CTF Day 3 - Nostalgic sounds and General Progess

    I was sick yesterday, sorry for the delay. Counting it as a write off and calling today day 3. On with the show :^)
    Today I added the old CTF sounds to the mode for things like getting the flag, capturing it, it returning to base and so on. I also had to add things like it returning to base to test these, so that’s done too. There’s also a nice blinking HUD nag for any flags trying to return to base:

    Some fun bugs were fixed, like the flag base getting killed in a collapse and the flag trying to get trees to pick it up because they aren’t the same team as it. Fortunately the trees couldn’t actually pick the flag up, but it sure spammed the flag pickup sound.
    I realised I hadn’t shown the tents yet, so here they are (significantly closer than they might be on a real map)

    One of the testers remarked “Tents are now a palace” - palace or not I think they certainly look much swankier than the old ones. Your feedback will of course be appreciated though!

    Love it. Although I can't say I'm too sure about flags returning to their poles all on their own if left lying around. I guess it could be okay, just need to make sure the timer's long enough that tossing the flag away, killing pursuit, and then picking it up again is doable. :blue:

    It would make sure people can't just spam a shit tonne of stone or hide it in a hole if it gets dropped.

    Agreed, One. Just noting that too rapid a despawn will no doubt lead to so fairly disgruntled players. :p

    About a week after "Day 1", and remember, this is dev time, so it can be from one week, to one year.

    Re: Changes in this thread, see the post on devlog now and on forums soon.
    With MM going away for the rest of the week and all these changes looming I have to prioritise sanely. Each day of CTF is a day spent working just on CTF, so next one will be day 4 and will resume as normal - it will probably be next monday.

    Re: Flag disappearing -
    they dont tick down time when in the air, and currently dont give a speed impediment, so I think 5 seconds on the ground should be enough. Time can be extended fairly easily if need be, though the variable will need to be bigger if you want more than 8 seconds :^)

    Glad the tents were well received, very much hope I can find time to finish it soon, it shouldn't take more than up to CTF day 7 to get something releasable together unless the shops cause serious hassle.
