Deathmatch/FFA and Duel modes

    I believe these two modes should be added, both of which should not allow builders.

    Deathmatch should be just like TDM except there should be up to 10 spawns on the map and it's all vs. all of course. I don't know why this hasn't already been implemented, it seems incredibly simple and it is a very popular game mode (I tend to play this over other game modes on almost every game that offers it).

    Duel modes should have a maximum players of 8 and have 3 duels going on at each time. There will be arenas and it's just one life and then there will be a challenger next. Possibly a winner-stays-on format one each arena. The reason for this idea is because it is not very good to play archer in TDM, and would be even worse in Deathmatch, because knights easily double gang you and kill you. In a duel mode, you have it more easy to guide them around and murder them, whilst they will still have the chance to double-slash own you.

    @jackitch has a custom FFA script and gamemode already set up; seems he never added the files to resources since it was testing for the longest time.

    Tbh I just haven't seen a huge desire for an arena-esque mode so not that many people have scripted something like it.

    I would like to try both of these modes, especially the duel mode sounds like something that could eventually discover a lot of moves, that you can use for a specific terrain configuration, that would otherwise not be attempted in the heat of a major battle.

    Might even want to have an option for an admin to go into a tournament mode, which would seed players based on their previous results, and create a bracket based upon those seedings.

    Don't think these have got the builder class banned, but could be a starting point for the mode/mod you have in mind.

    On a side note, would love to see a quake inspired ffa-mod with burgers/bombs/kegs/etc. spawning, so that you would have to keep running the map most efficiently to have the biggest advantage, while still trying to perfectly time your bombs etc. for when the next major item spawns.

    I don't see much potential in duel mode but I love the deathmatch idea. Although, I would call it LMS (Last Man Standing) because I don't like the "first one to reach kill goal" idea.

    Well, LMS would make it very defensive but kills will make it offensive. Best to go with, say, you need to get x kills but only have y lives. It will make the game offensive, but not stupid.

    Why would LMS be bad? I don't like re-spawning and I think it would make the gameplay more skill-based if you had to survive.

    I guess LMS and FFA could work with short rounds, with a fixed timer.
    But if you want to make a map that is big enough for 6-10 players to run around in, I can only image situations where one player would be able to just keep running from the others, until forced to make a move due to time running out.

    To still encourage skill, and not eyes-closed-suicidal-charging, i would suggest adding a moderate respawn time instead of LMS. This way you would not be wanting to just mindlessly throw yourself at the enemies, yet still will not be rewarded for camping until most people have killed each other off or the timer runs out.

    LMS could be fun for a teambased-objective mode though, like quick bursts of ctf where one team spawns with kegs, bombs etc. and the other team spawns with a castle and flag to be stolen within a short timeframe.

    Because it will be way too defensive. Just let everyone else wear each other down and then, when it's you versus a guy with 1 heart, you storm in and own them.
