Don't be so quick to kick...

I learned a valuable lesson today. Even if you build a personal fortification then sit in it as an archer, don't be surprised if a builder runs up, ruins it, and insists you're stupid. Also, if you become a builder yourself and repair your wrecked fort, don't be surprised to hear him spout how stupid you are globally while you try to explain what you're doing on team chat. And when he inevitably kicks you for BASE GRIEFING, hop on the forums and admonish him the only way you can; with a general warning to everyone.

Follow these steps to avoid being That Guy.

1. OMGZ HES GRIFFING!

Really? Check to make sure he isn't just clearing the firing lines.

2. NO HES GRIFFING ALL RITE I BULT A DOOR AND HE KNOCKED IT DOWN

Well, your door was blocking the way for him to fire at the enemy and he couldn't open it.

3. BUT HE DID IT AGAIN WHEN I REPLACED THE DOOR

Did you consider that maybe you're griefing him?

4. VOTEKICKSK!

You should have your account banned on principle, really.

 

its difficult to tell those aggressive players from non griefers some times. What i try to do is say what i am doing if it interferes with someone elses constructions

 

overall i just try to be tolerant as long as someones not collapsing everything or doing something incredibly stupid its easier to leave well enough alone. Like when someone thinks they know what I'm building; after i place the first two blocks... ;[

 

This is a pretty angry letter, how hard did you ragequi- oh right, sorry.

 

I had a front gate, a death pit, a drawbridge, and above it an archery hole able to shoot down on them. He built doors one tile below the hole so I couldn't hit -anything- and could never open the door either. In honesty, he griefed me, and whenever I can get unbanned from J4son's Shack I'll just rebuild, I guess.

 

Srsly though in-game administrative ability kinda sucks atm and the votes required to kick someone for 30 minutes is only 2-3 for some stupid reason. It'll be fixed one day.

And mate, I'd unban you if it was remotely easy. I'll try regardless.
EDIT: Yeah there's no unban option like I thought. I'd have to restart the server to clear the cache or list or w/e.

 

The effort is appreciated. I was banned by exactly four knee-jerkers who saw 'GRIEFING BUILDINGS' on the vote and smote their key for 'justice'. Pretty common, I guess. I'll get on the mumble server in the future so I can explain myself.

 

Mumble crashes the KAG engine atm so that server isn't really in any use...

I've once been votekicked right after joining because some noob builder had blocked every way to get out (others probably didn't notice/mind since there were all in advanced spawns), & because the knight is horrible to destroy blocks now, I throw a bomb at the wall to pass. Noob builder spots knight+bomb on a wall? GRIEFER!

Then right when the map had restarted, I use the fact that you can quickly respawn with a bomb to terraform the hard-stone at the back of the base. Knight+bomb respawning? GRIEFER! & I'm kicked out.
I've even read players accusing the other team of griefing their base.. but maybe I've missed the point of the game afterall.

 

Destroying the base of the main tent to have it floating in air is just plain cheese.

 

ahah ehh Yes it is. I've submitted that the above glitch be fixed. As for TS3, well mumble came with my server, TS3 would be more difficult to acquire. So I'm just waiting until the bug is fixed to use Mumble.

 

Destroying the base of the tent so there's nothing but a crater below actually helps your team since the other team can't reach the flag.

 

Yeah, but it's cheap and not supposed to be able to be done. as far as I know it'll be fixed in a future build.
Plus easy griefing opportunities.
