Emoticons

They are useless, shorthand for the emotionally numb, the opposite of exegesis, they are indeed all that is wrong with the world. The emoticon is a latter day ideogram of a mute language, a language we claim is taken for granted, yet one we cannot be bothered using. Without its ideogrammatical representation, emotion remains unexpressed -- which is to say that only emotions and feelings that can be condensed in the childish iconography of an emoticon, are worthy of representation.

Yes and yes.

Emotion is important.
Especially when you're flipping off a foe that you just vanquished with a well timed arrow or sword strike.
