So just wondering what kind of music all of you guys like. Without insulting other people for their personal preference.
Personal favorite genre is doom metal (Hence my username) And pretty much any form of heavy metal other than -core genres.
Grunge, punk, rock, shit like that. I don't have a very diverse taste, it pretty much needs good riffage for me to enjoy it. Though underground and stoner rap is pretty enjoyable. Most other genres I don't even bother with.

Ah i guess i should do this too, list of my favorite bands
    1. Black Sabbath
    2. Nirvana
    3. Sleep
    4. Black Flag
    5. Alice in Chains

Electronic music (mainly breakbeat, dnb, dubstep) and some rock/metal. I like music with energy, no matter if it's heavy guitar riff or some massive bass. The Prodigy, The Chemical Brothers, Daft Punk, Noisia, but also some Metallica, AC/DC, Rammstein etc.

Over the past few weeks, I've noticed that every genre of music I listen to is derived either from Electronica or Disco.

    Disco>Italo Disco>Eurobeat

    Electronica
    >Trance
    >House
    >etc every type of techno

    It's off-putting

I'm reviving this thread just so I don't have to make a new one. The other music thread in this forum is specifically about songs, not genres and bands.

I listen to metal almost exclusively. Mostly thrash metal and death metal (no metalcore), with a bit of black metal, new wave of British heavy metal (late-70's, early-80's), and classic rock in between. Man Must Die, Luciferion, Nile, Morbid Angel, Pantera, Slayer, Kataklysm, Deicide, Judas Priest, The Doors, Megadeth, Cannibal Corpse, Skeletonwitch, Death, and Opeth are probably my favourite bands, but I listen to dozens more.

Heavy metal - Bullet for my valentine, tear out the heart, black veil brides...

    Dubstep - Skrillex

    Techno - Dj Orician

FOLK - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WfzRlcnq_c0 (Civil Wars - Poison and Wine) one of the most amazing folk songs I've ever heard.

Not sure what to class this as, Gaming music?:

It's a genre of literature, art and movies. Kinda like sci-fi, but then again it's more like fictional history.

Pretty much any form of EDM (electronic dance music). I listen to all the subgenre's of house (regular house, prog. house [by far my favorite], electro house, deep and minimal here and there), everything between dubstep (both mainstream and non, both dirty bass and sub-bass [theres more out there than just the wompwompwomp, guys]) and drum and bass. I'm moving back into Trance a little bit, but its taking more time than I believe (Sticking with few artists, Above & Beyond, Mat Zo, Arty mostly). I'm not opposed to techno, but I hate when people umbrella-term all EDM under the "techno" category. ITS NOT ALL THE SAME DAMN THING!

Heh, I know lehoon, I used to think the same. But I sort of just brush it off, it's no big deal.
I mostly enjoy a range of Trip-Hop, Electro, Hip-Hop and House.

    I really like groups like:
    Justice (Disco House)
    Danger (House)
    Daft Punk (House) [OBLIGATORY]
    The Avalanches (Sampling, Inst. Hip-Hop)
    DJ Shadow (Trip-Hop, Inst. Hip-Hop)
    RJD2 (Inst. Hip-Hop)
    Portishead (Trip-Hop)
    Kanye West (Hip-Hop)
    Tyler, The Creator (Hip-Hop)
    Earl Sweatshirt (Hip-Hop)
    Gorillaz (Electronic Rock?..)
    J. Cole (Hip-Hop)
    Boards Of Canada (Experimental, IDM)
    Lil B (BASED MUSIC)
etc.. (sorry for all the name drops, just a big fan of all of them)

I also listen to sprinkles of Folk, Punk Rock, Dance Punk, Chiptune, Ambient, Dark Ambient, etc.

Meh, you're right. It's not a big deal when people don't know the actual labels. I just get offended when a bitch jumps to conclusions and says "ew techno", generalizing all of EDM :( Theres EDM out there for everyone!
