Now with the new additon of catapult getting 1 hitted with bomb arrows, I have started to realize that war boats, longboats and dingies should burn if you shoot fire arrows at them. What I think should be addedis fire arrows should burn ships and the more fire arrows that go into a ship the faster it burns. This could lead more people to have water buckets on board ships and will give more chance of getting rid of ships!

boats really aren't hard to destroy, a few knights with mines and kegs can get rid of them pretty fast. The better option is to take the boat and use it against your opponent, so you really don't want one archer to end up destroying something your team could possibly use to turn the tides (no pun intended) of war.

Brilliant idea, let's shoot fire arrows into a wooden boat that's floating in the middle of a lake of water. It'll catch on fire, even though it's in the middle of water.

I mean sure it could catch of fire, but realistically if this happened in naval warfare, one little splash and the fire would be put out.

Don't make fire burn boats. They're already flimsy enough.

That's what I was going to say. This is an irl moment. Having a boat catch on fire in the middle of a body of water isn't very realistic. Plus there are already plenty of other things that can destroy boats, and adding something else to that list isn't necessary.

Although I don't agree with the idea (because while I think archers should be able to do more damage to buildings/environment and siege/boats so that they have a niche in destruction rather than killing, fire arrows burning boats would make them too strong imo) as far as realism is concerned, it's fairly realistic. 1st of all, most medieval style boats were made of wood, tar, oil, and other flammable materials. Tar and oil will always burn in water cause they don't care since they don't mix with water. People even used to specifically make FIRE SHIPS to attempt to destroy enemy ships. In other words, Fire was a very real threat back in the medieval ages.

Please, tell me you're joking :huh?:
To say that a ship cannot burn because it is in contact with water is absurd.
The fire simply wont burn the section of the boat that is underwater.
    See?
However, archers already have bomb arrows to destroy boats. Making fire arrows destroy boats would make bomb arrows obsolete, as they are much cheaper.

EDIT: Sorry, didn't see this post^

Yeah boats are really flimsy enough as it is. Considering the time it takes to gather the resources, the coins (building blocks to get easy coins), then getting it set up without being raped by marauding knights, one fire arrow getting rid of the whole thing would be like a slap in da face.

But fire does burn wood, so some damage over time would make sense. Would need to make it so water bombs and arrows can hit the boat though, to put it out.
