Freemium system?

Hi,

This last update has some great new stuff! and I'm seriously considering purchasing now for the reduced price. However I'm not sure I understand the differences between the free and paid version, shown in that ingame tab.

I'm under the impression that users who bought the game will play with users who didn't, although the latter will be clearly weaker. This system bares a resemblance with what some people call "freemium trap", meaning that paying real money reflects in ingame advantages. I'm not a huge fan of this system, as it can be frustrating for non-paying players. Unless the servers are kept apart, but that comes with its own drawbacks as well.

However, at least it's better than not having a free alternative, I guess!

 

Looks like you guys (devs) need to put a solid FAQ page for the website (and blog) that explains these things.

To answer your question, no. The premium and free will be seperate games on their seperate servers. Premium players will obviously still be able to play in free servers, but they do not have any advantages or features from the premium servers.

I'm just speculating here, but I might imagine that character look customization is the only thing that a premium player might get to use on a free server aswell. But thats just a speculation, so don't take my word for it.

Hey Geti, have you ever considered making everyone pay to play the game? By perhaps lowering the price to say $5 and making everyone pay, a) you might make more money, b) you could avoid the problem of a potential playerbase split?
