Don't do gifs, make mp4 recordings! Smaller in size, more colours, better quality!
I personally use ShareX, but it might have for you too many options. For me it's useful.
Googling capture gif should give you some results as well.

Side note: moving the thread to proper section.

Haha I know what for he wants that gif.
@Brownies I see you want to be a copycat number one on KAG forums. It's not so hard to project your own theme, layout etc of the thread, website.. Do you really want to make your thread look exactly the same as mine? :QQ:
Anyway, you can make gifs with many image/photo editing softwares like GIMP and Photoshop, even some programs for recording and video editing have an option to save presentations, animations as gifs.
If you really want to make a gif slider or something like that, try Gimp.

Oh meh, I thought you want to make a gif similar to this one I have in my map thread. Thanks god I was wrong! :P
If you want to make some gifs like these on the official kag website, you can make a video (or ask someone to record it), upload it on YT and then use gif capture extensions, or software like this one suggested by Furai. I don't see any other way.
(And as i said before, some recording programs have an option to save the video as a gif, but I don't know any free)
Btw. video uploaded on youtube and placed instead of the official trailer would be much better solution.

Licecap and GifCam are both free direct-to-gif recorders. Recording to video is ok if you want to do postprocess, downscale, cut stuff together or whatever, but sometimes you just want a simple gif recording and they work great for that. Just chiming in :)
