[IDEA] Dreamcatcher

    I played Fellere's "Trick Room" today and I thought it was pretty cool so I decided to make a map with a web of ladders to get the same kinda fighting style.

    The idea of this map is that the bulk of the fighting happens in the web, with clean up happening around the floating islands and swift but very perilous flanking happening around the beads near the bottom. Visually it was suppose to be the intricate center piece of the "dreamcatcher" framed by small chunks of land.

    However what I ended up with is a visually noisy and unstructured map that I suspect would play out to be a big clusterfuck. The big fail is that the shit collapses as soon as you break a single piece of a cluster. But I thought the web was kinda pretty so here ya go.

    If you add a frame and use connecting (just giant lines) background pieces you could make a semi un-intrusive support so it would not collapse. Another 'artistic' trick could be to make the islands "connect" by using background dirt to make it seem cavelike. This would be a good archer only map.... except if you harvest trees. Does that make floating stuff collapse too?

    edit: However the main problem seems to lie in the design inside of the catcher... Yes it is very artistic but will collapse quite quickly... hrmmm... you could selectively fill in some of those circles (using a cross hatching design) to provide support without completely hindering the design.

    I think this map looks really interesting, I would really like to play on it, its also quite good looking, Fellere's support idea sounds good. Waiting for a playable version :3

    Well its just the idea that I provided "constructive criticism" without actually playing the map and experiencing it is somewhat rude of me. I have been trying to catch myself lately with speaking before thinking. I kind of deleted my apology post since I thought it kind of unneeded and spammy (I reanalyzed everything and I kind of thought that apologizing was unnecessary). I kind of hoped that none would see it before I deleted it, sadly Wyeth saw it ha ha.

    Anyways to provide more insights into the map you could also use tree trunks and shrubbery as support for the islands and liken them to "vines."

    Nah I usually am less uptight but I'm practicing it so I won't get fucked up by people who are after my guts and would want me fired from a job in the future, if I say something impolite.... Sucks being overly paranoid about the world ha ha.

    I think it's looking really good!
    And I think the fights under and in the dreamcatcher would be interesting and fun.
    I agree with Fellere, you should try to connect the islands with eachother or (or and) with the bottom of the map, using dirtbackground.
