I'm sorry, but I cannot take the lag in this game now...

I'm OK on zombie servers. It only ever lags when a body is gibbed. But in ze multiplayer where everyone is fighting...I lag to hell. I can't attack because I lag. I can't shoot as an archer because I freeze. I never had these problems before and it's really getting to me. I don't think I can stand CTF and Deathmatch now.
Does anyone else have similar problamos?

Some servers. I was playing on a US server yesterday, and most of the locals had lag as bad as me, and I live on another continent. :/

do servers crash because of the lag or people quiting and joining the game?

Servers crash because of the new update the KAG team made.

EDIT: And I'm not saying that in a bad way. I know how tiring it is to put together a script, find out it doesn't work, and continuously work towards getting it right, only to find another error.

My lag has actually gotten much better with this build. But then again, I solely frequent Mole Server(The Server For Attractive People!), so that may not be indicative of other, lesser, servers.

I noticed that the Mole server is a lot better to play on, as long as I have good ping. I still get the occasional disconnect but that is more due to my internet and location, sword fighting has improved too, less teleporting.

I've frequently had them problem that at the time lag was supposed to be fixed, it actually started to appear for me.
This time is kind of mixed, the few Premium servers I usually go to are fine.

I'm routinely getting hit through my shield and finding myself bouncing around, even when my ping is fabulous. Something got borked in the netcode when the last major update with new shops, light/darkness, and zombies came out.

One issue that I noticed that didn't improve for me is that I have to be using my shield before an archer fires a shot, if I do this while the arrow is in flight it will still hit me. I would blame my sometimes bad ping, but this has happened on servers regardless of my latency.

Depends on the size of the network bottleneck that occurs. The network is only as fast as the smallest bottleneck in the system;as a result, a faster computer with good internet access isn't always going to give you good performance.

on i7 940, KAG server takes 14-18% of a core with 15 ppl on the server, which is perfect. I'd prefer that direction of server development, so that they wouldnt consume so much processor, in cost of RAM or bandwidth. Of course in reasonable amounts:)

Windows 7 features have whats called Branch Cache to lower the bandwidth needed to access certain files. Any fully upgraded Windows 7 server with the correct edition of Windows will have this option for networking. Depending upon the 32 or 64 bit OS that you may be running determines how much RAM you need. If Microsoft tells you that you need 1GB of RAM to run Windows 7 you want at least twice that amount for good performance. Also, i7 has great Ghz Processing power and multiple cores to lighten the load when gaming. In edition to the bit topic 64 bit OS require much more RAM to have good performance. Since most of us have Home Premium the max RAM you can have is 16 GB; which in most cases is more then enough for any game. Windows 7 Ultimate has a max RAM amount of 192 GB which is insane.:p
