Title says it all. If for some reason this is something that shouldn't be discussed, mods feel free to lock. Not sure if this isn't allowed. This is for general discussion, it isn't a serious idea but if the revs ever took interest, what would you think?

KAG's artstyle would fit for an phone app.

Nope. I like this game as a PC/Mac/Linux game only, besides the controls will be hella awkward.

I think it'd be pretty playable on the iPad, not that sure about iPhone though.

I don't have an ipod touch or a smart phone, but a competitive multiplayer game would be cool. I can see the issue being having to be near wi-fi, and needing a mac to develop the game.

Now maybe something like windows phone would be better? Why:
-Users will always have internet access guaranteed if their phone is getting service(I believe)
-C# + XNA would simplify things a lot
-C# is a .NET language, so MM could learn it faster
    -I know/am learning C# so I could totally help :D

But as Geti said in the other thread, I think this would be way off in the distance to even think about.

-XNA is evil deathcrying because it means the game would never be portable without ripping everything apart.
-openGL + C++ can run on the ipad and newer iphones afaik. Obj-C is only necessary if you want to use it -> no language changes at all
    -there's a 3G iphone or something
-if we make it in C++ and oGL we can port to android and windows phone whenever assuming they aren't retarded to develop for
-that said, iOS is retarded to develop for.
-this won't happen for ages if it ever does

If an iOS port would ever be developed, I would suggest using Corona SDK. It's ultra easy to program a game with, but it uses Lua, so you have to "simulate" OOP. In my game that I'm making using Corona, I use tons of arrays for objects.

To chime in on this topic as a whole, if an iOS port were ever to be developed, I think it would be best if it was a limited version of the game with some of the functionality - like the first builds of KAG. Mobile games are usually 5 min time wasters as compared to games with depth that last longer. If you could play a round of KAG in under 5 minutes and it's fun, then you have a good multiplayer game for a mobile platform. People who want to play with depth and no time limits will always prefer console or PC. Most people simply have games on their iPhone or iPad for something to pass the time while they wait for something. If you have a computer at home, you won't whip out your iPad to play a game, you're going to go to your computer... or console.

I keep thinking of Michal's prototype that looks more like an old school Atari game. It would be cool to develop that for mobile, with either multiplayer functionality or bots, and see where that one goes.

i would pay twice for an iPad version, though i'm not counting on it even though they'd make an absolute killing.

i'll be overseas for three months with no access to a desktop or laptop, so i guess i gotta get my kag fix in now.. =\

After playing Minecraft: Pocket Edition, I don't see how KAG would be even remotely playable without a keyboard and a mouse. Virtual buttons on an iPad, maybe. But even then, multiplayer wouldn't exactly be a hot topic on an iOS version.

oh for sure it'd have to be iPad exclusive, but the screen size, resolution, and field of view would be perfect for it. touch controls aren't bad at all if you have a developer that knows what it's doing. take infinity field or league of evil for example.

like i said, i wouldn't bet on an iOS version, but it would be great. the devs would stand to make a serious mint off of it if they could pull it off.

I'm pretty sure the controls would be wonky as fuck, KAG is very fast paced and this kind of thing might be strange for touchscreen.

That said I'd play it, but I wouldn't exactly expect it any time soon short of someone coming up with another team who works with this sort of thing.

The only game I've seen work good for touchscreen that is relatively fast paced and similar is Battleheart or maybe Sword and Sworcery.

I would be more optimistic about seeing this come out on a tactile feedback handheld system than a touchscreen. Think of the DS or something. A platform like the DS would be absolutely perfect for King Arthurs gold, it has a Dpad, multiple buttons, wifi capability one screen for action and another for menus.

Getting it onto the DS system however is another hurdle in itself.

3DS or PS Vita would indeed be perfect.

Honestly if the game was a little farther and -cough- the PR was a little better out there I think they could actually have a LOT of potential in that area, especially with the way you can use PS Vita/3 together you could totally roll out long games on your PS3 or short games on the run on your Vita, would be insanely awesomely fun. Just needs
    Perfect netcode
