So... yeah. Katawa Shoujo. Perverted cripple dating sim to some, and heart wrenching emotional tale to others.

Sorry for the lack of real info (Because I suck at descriptions) and the lack of a link (Because it's 18+ and I'm a bit nervous to post one without an OK from a forum guard.)

I love that game. Ami was as confusing as my girlfriend.

 

I'm playing through it now, it's actually really good. Obviously one has to be into this kind of stuff to really appreciate it, quite a few people I know just think it's hentai. :P

 

Hanako's story is my by far my favorite, but that might just be because she's the first girl I chose.

 

I heard Rin's story is the most depressing in the game.

 

All I've heard is that nothing she says or does makes a damn bit of sense.

 

Gotta love how diverse the girls are. And the writer for Shizune's arc seems to be the weakest out of all of them. Would recommend to do her arc first just to appreciate the others even more.

 

Personally, I enjoyed Shizune's arc; I think the general consensus of the route being badly written is primarily due to lack of player input. She is aggressive, challenging and authoritative; traits that would make one the pants-wearer, and traits Hisao severely lacks, compared to her. You make approximately one choice for yourself after Act 1(2?), and that is when she isn't around to do anything about it. Very admittedly, though, the writer is often crude in his expression and wording, which lends to Shizune's assertive personality just as much as it doesn't.

Misha doesn't use enough tildes after Act 1, either. This grinds my gears in a profound way.

 

Btw, if someone that was good at writing wanted to give me an idea of how to make the first post not so... weak, I'd be grateful

 

You kiddin' me? That was as worthy a first post as any. I happen to very much like Katawa Shoujo. It's a great game, and it deserves more recognition.
It was smart of you to not post a link, since the game is somewhat... mature in nature, and all you really have to do to be a good member of the community is speak your mind about whatever subjects pop up, and don't be a jerk. It's not even necessary to start threads all the time, unless you really feel like doing so and you have a good topic in mind.

My advice? Don't sweat it. Just keep contributing.

 

Thanks. I agree that Katawa Shoujo deserves more (positive) recognition, but I think visual novels in general are under-appreciated outside of the land of samurai and subway molestation.
It'd be nice if people gave it a try instead of passing it by because it's "Just another weird thing from 4chan" or because "Eww. Cripple hentai."

 

Ive heard of that one. Im going to to try one called Shuffle! I wish Project dawn could have finished the translation for Shuffle! Essence+

 

Every game like this wants to scare the shit out of you.
