Kill:Death Ratio

    When the API is done, we've been told we can see kills and deaths (I think?).
    Will there be a possibility for; today, last 3 days, past week, past month, all time?
    This would be great for scouting for clan members.

    Another thing, will we have "per class" for them things?
    I know it's already saved in the server logs, but you "per server" be accessable eith the API?

    One more thing, it would be a nice addition for overall blue kills and red kills :)

    I think that the K : D ratios are a little buggy currently, we should have the in-game ones done first. I like the idea though. (Hehe 40000000000000000 kills : 1 death)

    Well, this will add a tad more seriousness to the gameplay and could potentially lead to increased bad behavior.
    People would rage more and such, as all their stats are saved. Trolls and griefers would feel more satisfaction when doing their thing.
    And so on...

    This is not nessecarily a bad idea. Maybe you choose which stats to save?

    If/when the scoreboard is fixed tracking Kills and deaths in a database and showing them as a ratio over time would be quite simple actually. If the API allows for the necessary server data calls.

    Someone would actually have to build it though.

    MCrypa - Stats are just stats, they're just data-porn. If a non competitive player is taking them seriously they need to rethink. And if a competitive player is letting something like stats getting to him and affecting his behavior he needs to rethink what it means to be competitive.

    Yes, stats are stats, but they also give a certain impression.
    "This would be great for scouting for clan members."
    Everyone has a certain "competitive" instinct in them. Saving all the stats would add additional pressure to the game and possibly ruining some of the fun. People want to do good, and therefore get annoyed if they do bad.
    People who want to be known as "good" would have a harder time having fun and just joking around.

    Easy to tell somebody to "rethink" but not that easy when it comes to it.

    I'd like to have a server-side possibility to turn these stats off if you're going to implement that. I seriously hate people who're just playing to get a high K/D.

    I've been like that myself and I can say that the gameplay has nothing to do with either winning or teamplay if you're trying to get 'the best stats'.
    There is no way I am always going to play with and vs these kind of players.

    Unless you get a good k/d just because your demolishing them.
    I like the idea but it should last no longer than a week.

    Also, offtopic, last night I was going 40-5 and that wasn't even archer, that was me up in their grill.

    ontopic EDIT:people who gloat over kd are everywhere so people, dont sweat the small stuff.

    Going off what your opinions are, I think if we chose what stats were avalible to the public then it wouldn't matter about all that.
    Want to show off, you can.. Don't want to play serious, you can.
    The data would still be saved for a week/month/all time or whatever the devs think is appropriate.
    And it's still a good way to judge if a player is worth testing for your clan.

    I think it should be recorded in the short time, maximum 1 week, that would stop campy archers every game and it wouldn't matter if you actually chose to help your team.

    And then you remember that there is nothing that prevents a player from going to server to server and only staying when he/she can bash noobs heads in all day long. Nothing beats actually seeing somebody play and knowing for yourself whether or not they are actually capable.

    I can imagine people, before being "scouted by a clan", hopping on a modded server with a bunch of Henries just to get a 37:2 kdr.

    Just make it your goal to have the lowest KDR possible. Then, YOU CAN'T LOSE!!! :D:p
    Then people (Rayne) are going to only save their good kills, therefore looking awesome while the legits look awful, even if the legits did better than the "pro's".

    Please this, I hate KD whores with a passion who would rather keep their KD high then do fun hail mary runs at the flag and actually win games.

    I only said scouting, not recruiting :p
    I'm asking questions wether it's possible or not..

    And as I said, all kills/deaths would be saved, and you choose what ones to show. Not you choose what kills and deaths are saved..

    perhaps more like a data store with which to look up on the forums? just doesnt have to be public (scouted members will want to be honest if they have any inkling of being accepted) and there not in everyones face then (diverts away from people feeling they have a standard to uphold)

    also, K/D's shouldnt be the only thing recorded if its possible, like say class distribution, time played, wins and losess (would not be so important as people would probably switch during game near end :S)

    finally, like said before, it is data porn- only important to those who want to discuss it or use it- people can still dick around and have a joke- nothing set in concrete about a good player being an idiot from time to time making him seem as if he is a terrible player

    In all honestly Stat saving wouldnt be overly helpful for scouting such as people could play almost like god builder Example strathos but you woudlnt recognise his potential on a stat board that records kills and deaths this board would have to factor in so much more then if you factor in points that can easily be atained by a noob builder who builds all game My point is the idea is good your thoughts are in the right place but think about the details

    also Servers if you wanted ranked information why dont you grab your hopeful's and throw them into a server that is made for it have dedicated ranked servers so people who just wanted to have fun could avoid them

    Though these would have to be highly monitored for trolls and such to maintain some accuracy

    Possibly save the average score instead of saving every single one?
