I was looking up games similar to Terraria, and stumbled upon this. I am a MAC user, and was very happy to see that I could use this. I played for a while, and got hooked, but found that the free version isn't bad, but isn't great. I will probably buy the free version, but this game is from what I can tell, pretty well made. Keep it up!

It's still very alpha and a lot of recent changes are all about getting features in, you will see it get a lot better and smoother with time, if you stop liking it just stop playing it and come back to it after a month or so and you will probably start to like it then.

You'll have a lot of fun on premium servers probably, but I'll suggest against playing too much builder until you get your skills up on him as it can really frustrate and hold back a team if you have bad buildings.

Yeah don't play builder, that's probably the best bit of advice any new player can have, and I think I'd probably rather the entire tutorial we have at the moment was removed and replaced with a screen saying that in red bold capitals until the devs get the time to sort out something more comprehensive if you ask me. Builder is often the first class most new players take, but you should be learning from more experienced builders before jumping into playing it.

The tutorial should be deathmatch and you should first spawn as a knight(multiplayer) and have to go on builder section on forum to unlock builder.

First off, welcome to the game stryk3r15. Give the game some time, after the release of big new features combat is always a bit buggy and servers a bit unstable.

Concerning a building tutorial: I think it'd be a good idea to have the blue-prints of several simple but good towers laid out for the newbie. By blueprints I mean a faded image of the tower. The player then has to fill in each square of this blue-print. They could be given an explanation of the defense's features. This would be used to introduce them to several new concepts, eg notch walls, supporting your tower with back walls, making sure your team-mates can get over something but an enemy can't....etc.

As a finale to the lesson and to round off everything learned, maybe the builder has to build their own tower in 5 minutes that holds out against an invasion of 3 or so Henrys.

I mightn't have explained that very well, but I think it's a solid way of introducing people to the builder class.

Having just purchased the game myself, I also want to play a builder. Building is one of the most fun aspects of games such as KAG, having done a lot in Terraria originally. This game is obviously a bit different with gravity and building collapses etc. My work is cut out for me. Function is just as important as form.

Edit: Removed Blueprint suggestion to place it in an official thread if one exists.

For now, I'll restrict my building to offline or private servers (good opportunity to learn how to make my own) and bots etc. Perhaps somewhere out there is a server where new builders can go to learn their trade, seeing as how building is such an important part of KAG.

The Archer looks like a fun alternative to play, probably my next best choice.

It'd be ok if what you'd assume to be a solid castle was infact a solid castle, but after a while of playing you'll see that those castles are fucking worthless, you're better watching other people build until you get used to it. Building in sandbox isn't probably the best idea either cos that'll promote that sort of thing too. Just try to use your best judgement and see what works, castles need defend in many ways without cutting out ways of attacking, so playing as an archer you'll see when a castle is doing it's job of been a block of stone well, yet you don't have anywhere other then the top of the tower to perch on and fire from, conversely a castle might be very accommodating, yet it's so badly designed that it's tunnelled under/into easily and all the clever bits of archer cover are then worthless. By observing what's best to fight from and hardest to fight against, you should get a better understanding then trying to build all sorts of stuff you'd imagine would be useful, but really isn't.

When you get a bit more familiar with archer/knight and the game in general, I'd suggest you learn to play offensive builder (i.e. the mad cunt that does all the laddering, tunnelling and hammering at the front, as that's probably the very best way to learn what's REALLY a fucker to get past.
