That is the abbreviation most people seem to use anyways. Alot of people ask what op means... well it means outpost.

OP is an ambiguous term that must be taken into context to discover it's meaning.

For example, "OP, knight is OP. OPs shouldn't supply them with bombs"

OP is generally used as an abbreviation for "Over Powered", mostly throughout gaming. OP can also be a shortening of "Operator" which is basicly a mod (who has power), so when someone says "OP" they are reffering to either of those instances (but both hold the same meaning).

I think Outpost should just be shortened to "Post", like Catapult is "Cata" or "Pult". No-one calls a catapult a CP.

Most of the people I play with use OP as outpost. I use it as outpost and i never use the abbreviation in adjectival form. It depends upon the usage. If adjectival lets say OP means over powered. If in noun form OP means outpost. I use it because its easier saying "forward OP" then "forward post". It bears also close resemblance to the military jargon of "forward op" or "forward OPerating base" that is the reason why I associate OP with outpost :P

Well I haven't seen anyone use "op" in KAG unless describing a mechanic. But as you said, it's of course based entirely on context.

I haven't seen anyone use the word "pult" either. Usually I say "cata" , e.g., "BRING DOWN THAT FORWARD CATA!" I have said many a time, and i've used people use that term before too.

Don't like OP for outpost because as Sani and Eggnogg said, it's too close to Overpowered, which is being used a lot lately for the archer class. I usually just say "NEED OUTPOST" but if you really want to abbreviate it "post" is fine too.

If I see OP used in a forum, I assume they are referring to the Original Poster.
In-game is a different story, of course. Frankly, I would be annoyed that you are being so ambiguous :)

In general it's usually Original Post/er or OverPowered.

Many people ask midgame what OP stands for when people chat with it.

Meh, I tried. It shouldnt really matter. You're right not many people go onto forums, but some people do. So those people will at least know what it is.

I think one abbreviate which would be much more distinct is "out." Because Outposts are a critical part of the game that need to be talked about quickly.

"out" is good, but I think "OuPo" should work.

    How about "wooden-structure-built-on-the-front-line-which-lets-you-respawn-restock-ressources-and-change-classes"? Short: WSbotFLwlyRRraCc.

Seriously: Don't try to force some abbreviations. Just let the game flow and like every other game/genre/etc some common used abbreviations, inside-jokes and weird word creations which only KAG-players understand will eventually emerge. Then we could maybe collect them on the wiki. But trying to bind a certain shortened form to the word "outpost" makes no sense atm.
