I'm thinking that enemy builders have too much of an easy time disarming and bridging spike pit traps. They just need to knock once on a trap bridge to disable it and walk across.

I think the following design should be adopted in more games, especially for the front tower as a more effective means of slowing the enemy builder from disarming them.

The enemy builder would not be able to rely on the gaps between bridges, from the first picture, to put stone bridges; would have to use twice as many stones to bridge a gap directly across to the tower or jump into the pit just to get to the base of the tower. Meanwhile arrows can rain down on him, foiling his efforts. To prevent the enemy knocking your allies into the pit one can add trap bridges at the lowest level above the spikes so a builder would still have to jump in the pit to disarm it.

A deep enough pit with spikes would cause an instant kill.

Now that I think about it. This design is essential to any very deep pit.

Wouldn't an attacking builder just place ladders between the trapdoors that go up, then continue across the raised bridge to the top of the tower? Also it costs 100 extra wood for that ladder structure on the right. Doesn't really seem worth it for most situations, to me.

    Hmm.
First you have to put supports between the gaps, and as unsafe as bridge 1 may be.
Bridge 2 can be easily disarmed by 2 well thrown bombs...
(Side notes about YOUR pit, just 1 spike and dirt ground :C )
Also as bracket said, ladders or rocks between the gaps= free entrance.

Damn. I was so sure I was on to something. I guess the design needs reworking then. I forgot to add stone ground under the spikes and support for bridges. Sorry.

It's a decent idea, but a staircase probably beats both for your intention, but it's hard to make any of these things in a way that a builder can't easily disarm them.
