The thread to talk about Paradox!

So... Crusader Kings 2 came out. Who is playing it up?

Looks like a mixture of the Total War games and Civilization. Is that right?

Its more like a roleplaying game and civilization. Battles are abstract, but the character system is very detailed.

I played Heart of Iron II for hundreds of hours, it was great, the mods added so much depth ! Being able to chose that Lenine/Hitler get assassinated and completly change the fate of mankind is kinda fun :)

I bought Crusader Kings II 2 days ago, played a few hours, it looks great so far ! The game is HUGE and so complex my brain exploded. I love how realistic it is, that your vassals nobles can refuse to follow your order, claim your throne and lead a civil war against you... the possibilities are endless :)

There are a few flaws though : during a game I was the King of Poland and a window popped up : one of my ally asked me to go to war to a neighbour country.

So I sent my whole army and my vassals' armies to capture the ennemy's lands, I besieged their city, conquered it, but one of my vassal lost his land during the war. No problem I thought, I will just kick the invaders out !

The country I was pwning happened to be at war with the Holy Roman Empire too. So, that was a good news, it meant they would be wiped out, and I would keep the land I had just conquered :D

But all of the sudden the Roman Empire declared peace, and for no reason the war ended and peace was declared for me too, and I lost the city I had conquered, and my vassal lost his land too. WHAT THE **** PARADOX ? I didn't want peace ! Only one guy who happened to be at war with the same country wanted it, I never even spoke to them, so why am I at peace now ? And why did I lose the region I conquered ?! It doesn't make any sense :'(

Did it happen to any of you ? Do you know why it does that and how to prevent it ? If it's a bug I hope it gets corrected in future patchs !

Peace can be declared early if the Casus Belli is no longer valid, which is most likely through the claimant (the guy with a claim on the country who was your ally) being assassinated, bought off, or just accepting a white peace (which it sounds like).

Also holy I love this game too. Might do a write up of my game when I'm done :D

Waiting for salem from paradox interactive.
A guy working there showed him his own game (Haven and Hearth).
They liked it and are making a 'spiritual successor' to it.
The game features permadeath,in depth stats and skills and a very interesting combat system.

Just modding in my own family for Crusader Kings and gave me a backwater county in England. Managed to attain several more counties and duchies. Unfortunately, my wife was really lusty and kept having bastard sons as well as regular sons. Since I had gravelkind succession, after I died unexpectedly to an intrigue attempt by one of my sons, my realm fell apart into strife between all my sons.
