Resource dispencer's influence on gameplay

The latest release introdiced an anti-griefing measure turned bug. It allows the player to build a structure that generated infinite wood, rock and gold.

It dramatically changes the gameplay dynamics.

I find this change of dynamics create a more interesting game. I've played a few games with this glitch being used and in a few both teams utilized this glitch. The result were bigger castles, more skybridges and more above-ground buildings overall. While more building usually means a slower game there was ample ammo for catapults which were used a lot more than without the extra stone.

I found this kind of gameplay better and with a much more fun middle/endgame. While this form has to go (with golden skybridges and all) dispensers that have a similar effect could improve gameplay. Modified so that, for example, a dispenser has an internal supply that slowly replenishes up to 500-1000 rock while any builder can take 100/150/200 while passing.

    Your thoughts?

Solution: Markets and Imports. Trade funds and time for resources. Rather than just infinite everything, we're looking to give you guys more resources and make buildings a little more worthwhile - fights in castles need to happen a lot more than they do now :P

So what direction is gameplay going? Something to prevent the situation where there's a stalemate at the middle with a cratered map and little building taking place?

I think that a part of this is resource depletion - easily accessible stone is already dug out. Do you plan the trading to be on a flat ( 10 gold for 50 stone) or flow ( 50 gold for +10 stone / 7 seconds ) mechanic?

    Go play with yourself

Maybe outposts should only work when fully enclosed in stone and doors with bg tiles. The only time you see a real castle is around the main tent, the rest are just walls with team ladders.

If you can't be nice, stfu. Cheers.

The markets might be driven by some fake economy - trading stone for gold drags the price of stone down -> nets you less gold if you sell heaps of stone, similarly buying heaps of stone makes the price go up. The price might fluctuate for all players. We'll have to see how it works out.

you can read more about our direction here: http://kagdev.tumblr.com/post/9356762176/kags-direction

Outposts are intended for small, throwaway forts -> should function outside, but as there's nothing above in the "tech tree" them they're kind of overpowered at the moment. Later they'll likely have a large respawn time associated with them and not allow fast travel.

I think it should take longer to mine but a stone block should give much more... The fact most holes give less stone it would take to fill them back up again can be annoying :l

This bug is running a bit rampant. Some VIP player kept going on and on about how "the japanese people discovered the bug". The map was covered in OPs, gold, and buildings. Of course, my dumbass team decided that we needed 3/4 of our entire team to go builder and work on the home castle, and never built other OPs. I got the flag once by knight-slashing into some rocks; when another knight tried to bomb it, it shoved me deeper into the rocks. He assumed I was dead, but I was able to simply claw my way through pure stone, right into the flag. However, I fell to my death on the return.
Bottom line: fix this infinite resource bug.
