Server owners : what's your sv_maxping ?

    Some players can't play on my servs because they get kicked for having a too high ping, even though they have ADSL (fast internet connection) and live near the server (they're French and the servers are located in Germany).

    My settings are :
    global sv_maxping = 500; // Max ping allowed on server after which player is kicked. Large ping players will slow down server.
    global sv_maxping_warnings = 450; // Because of ping spikes, warnings are issued if a player has ping over max number.

    Is this okay ? Should I incrase the maxping ? What are your settings ?

    My max ping is 400 as of 9/11/2011. My max ping warning is 300.

    Works fine that way for me.

    Higher maxping! Let me into your server I don't bite!

    Ping kicks suck. If you're lagging terribly it's no fun anyway, but I guess it's necessary. Just a heads up from those of us with crap internet.

    ~400-600, with maxwarnings ~300

    That should cancel spikes.

    If you're targetting a locale then no worries, low ping and nice responsive games, but if you want a roughly global server then you'll get a few people with pings above 300.
