Hello there! I've been discussing the subject with my friends lately and we just had a frustrating situation with a Global Moderator.

    http://imageshack.us/f/856/img09022012175647.png/

We first joined the server as the clantag FOUW. There was a passageway out of the base at the upper side and the front doors were blocked by bricks (So the blue team wouldn't come in). Nachthemel destroyed those blocks to replace the door and got suddently kicked out (Ban for 15 mins). Problem is he didn't ask Nachthemel plan before kicking. He tought automatically "Griefing". I've seen some other moderators who asked reasons of actions before even thinking of kicking someone.

Then we discussed on Skype (The kicked one, Drenko and I) about the rules when you are a Global moderator. The image link sure showed us that some of them verbal abuse (Altough I don't remember who was the "mofo").

Those two arguments led us to the following point :

Is there rules amongt the Guards? The point of this guard system is to improve community, yet we felt really mad/bad right there. If something like this happen again, which total screwed our fun, I'll make sure to post it and I won't go easy.

    Sincerely,

    Misk

Are you sure it was a guard? Might've been a server admin.
Also, can't really see anything on that screenshot, too blurry.

    There are certainly rules, yes.
From your description Terry was operating inside those rules. Without having been there myself I can't say for sure if he could have done better to ask before he kicked, but its not a rule that he has to. Often its not necessary to ask, its just obvious.
Plus there's no evidence that you reason you were kicked was actually Terry. It could have been someone else or the stupid broken autokick playing up and bad timing.

And 'mofo' is generally not considered abusive. Or at least I certainly wouldn't be offended by it.

The Royal Guard public policy is posted at the top of this very forum. You can view it here.

"Generally speaking, guards are encouraged to take pride in helping to provide a fair game for all. With that said, please remember that guards are players themselves, who's actions will not always be perfect. If you would like to report guard abuse, you may do so here."
-Taken from the "What else should I know" section of the policy.

With that said, i'm sure the guards will have an internal discussion about this incident and hopefully this will be resolved amicably without any further misunderstandings.

    Thank you for your patience.

"mofo" wasn't the problem here. Point is, in my point of view, the language and behavior of Guards should be impeccable. I just want to make sure that Terry don't have any problems there. I still wonder if the "asking" part could appear in rules, at least for 30-45 seconds (if the person keep griefing after the question, just kick him). There's many perceptions possible in every moves, that's why Guards should ask questions.

Please see the section "I've been frozen by a moderator!? What does that mean?" of the policy. As stated, we promote the use of the freeze function before kicking in order to discuss the situation, though this may not always happen.

So, your concern is understood. As the policy dictates, we as guards would generally like to assume a high-standard of conduct when in-game, but as stated, we guards are players just like you, who do this on a volunteer basis. Some amount of empathy from the player-base would be much appreciated as the job isn't as easy as one may think.

Again, we will discuss this matter and hope to handle it without further misunderstanding.

No, a guards only job is to remove people who are griefing and speed hacking, they are not drones and they are not paid so they have no reason to watch their language and should fit in to the community the same as everyone else does.

And why should anyone who plays this watch their language anyway? because someone may get "offended" only pathetic people get offended by bad language alone, or perhaps to make it more child friendly? oh god please keep the fucking children away from this game.

Okay I've been speaking to Terry. I don't think its particularly fair that you neglected to point out that after you explained that he'd got the wrong man he apologised and explained the temporary nature of the ban. Also, there had been reports on that server about someone griefing, hence why he was more trigger happy than he might otherwise be.

I lack the evidence to know whether your friend truly wasn't griefing, but if he wasn't then Terry made a mistake, that is all. It happens - a green name does not make you infallible.

Whilst I agree with the sentiment Jack, I'd like to avoid this spilling out into flaming.

I agree that children, probably shouldn't play a game where limbs and gore splatter castles every 13 seconds, that said my clan has members who are "children" they also happen to be very mature, Mofo which is abbreviated for mother fu****, is generally less offensive than the actual words it is made from, that said, I thoroughly dislike being sworn at. someone might "SHHHHIIITTT" when they get gibbed, thats not a big problem, however, "You Fucking n00b get the fuck..." etc makes me very annoyed, I beleive that if possible directed swearing intended to insult someone should be cut down upon.

crap just realized that that was off topic... sorry :)

We're not getting paid to do this, so we want to play the game like a human being would. That means sometimes getting angry and making mistakes in our behaviour (there's no way out of making a mistake, everyone makes them). You can certainly complain about a guard's offensiveness or swear words or behaviour, but I would sooner leave the guards than put up with a rule stating that our behaviour should specifically be impeccable. That's just not on.

Additionally, just to give you the heads up, not all green names are guards so always check in the topic with a list of all the guards before you call out any "global moderators" If you did do that then ignore this message, but guards have become fed up of being blamed for stupid behaviours of server admins.

  11. I was there....Earlier in the round we had 1 or 2 other griefers who attempted/ did destroy parts of our base and us with debris. We were tired of it. There was a way out above which three people were in the process of fixing. He was kicked for 15 minutes (at most) out of whim because he let 4 enemies in. We won that small battle but soon lost after that.

We attempted to explain this multiple times but eventually just dismissed the subject.

Edit: Terry did apologize: There were a few others there. BC and a few Moles i believe
