Spelunky!

Hello, everyone! You guys might know me from Discussing Starbound, me playing King Arthur's Gold or even Discussing Cube World.

Regardless, I've made my first Spelunky video today, after months of wanting to do so.
Spelunky is an exploring, greedy-looting platformer that any retro game fan would love. It is immensely fun but it isn't forgiving at all! The XBLA version came out this week and it's essentially got improved graphics, deathmatch (think Mojang's Cobalt) and different characters you can play as and more.

I beat Spelunky only once. It took me 5 tries - prior to just downloading it and reading the wiki. The most valuable rule I have to give you: "Take your time. Observer your surroundings." Damsels are very important - try to rescue every one you see - don't steal from shopkeepers(trust me) - and purchase at least 2 - 3 parachutes they will help you survive falls - mattocks are okay they can help you get some money but aren't very durable.

 

Those god damned arrow traps were responsible for 99.95793% of my deaths. SCREW YOU ARROW TRAPS, YOU CAN'T HARM ME IN KING ARTHUR'S GOLD! HA!

I would be able to beat this game without any mods if I didn't fall off high ledges all the damn time.

 

Parachutes and Ropes , or Flip-Hanging.

 

Oh I've beaten this game.... after 500+ deaths or so.... After I realised that its generally a good idea not to piss of the vendors and face their wrath at the end of each level...

Have yet to discover the City of gold..... Or unlock the other characters.

 

Last time I played for fun (won't be doing that again, just in case I record more), I was given a special key, I assume that it has something to do with that. And a pile of bones came to life o.o
Also, I didn't know this version had other characters to play as :O

And, yeah, I heard that you can try and escape from the vendors after you've stolen something from them if you just jump like a monkey on your way out.

It makes me happy that you guys have stuff to say ^^, Would you like to see more of this, then?

 

You can try :>

If you steal from them they will be waiting for you at the end of each level(may be mistaken). He may miss once or twice but - he will nail you eventually. Even if the bullets don't kill you you will probably bounce around and do one of the following:

• Fall into and get impaled on spike(Instant Death)
• Fall and while your recovering from the fall - the shop keeper runs over to where you are and shoots you while your down.
• Fall near a moving enemy and get the crap beaten out of you by a Caveman,Snake, Bat, Spider,Large Spider, Skeleton etc.
• Fly through the air like Batman with a Bat Grenade and then get no-scoped by an arrow trap.

 

I want to buy an xbox360 just to play Spelunky with new additions everywhere like this.

 

PC version of the new Spelunky is coming soon I do believe.

 

Next year is the word from Derek.

 

I'll wait then, its much cheaper than buying a XBox 360!

I want the XBLA version soo much. I was under the impression that it's not going to have ALL of the things that the 360 version has. Also, it wouldn't be cheaper if you also had to buy a new gaming computer, like I do xD
