[TDM] Abyss

    Having a lot of problems with this map. As I said in the other thread I think the U shape is inherently flawed.

    Personally love this map a lot :)
    There is literally nothing I think would make it better. Contrary is a truly epic mapmaker in my opinion.

    You could attempt to make the chasm more of an 'A' shaped however this is based purely on speculation that you are having difficulties with the chasm itself. One problem I find is that the red team has a better camouflaged tree then the blue team (helps with the red bushwookies too much). Yes, blue has more trees but... in Rapid TDM I find that harvesting does not take much precedence... However the trees do assist archers in rapid parkour hopping so that they can position themselves into advantageous positions more rapidly then red. Another problem I found is that blue is unable to make accurate arched shots onto the red side (from spawn) as their initial platform is too long and blocks the natural curve of the arrows. Red on the other hand is able to achieve that arch on blue and is able to pop in some early cheap shots (I don't know if this was intentional).

    Mmmmmmassive necropost from the 13th page. Since this (or at least a modification of this) is kind of like an official map now or something I thought I might dick around with it a bit for the new build.

    So I went kind of crazy playing with darkness and rubble. The left has several spots in which you can hide in and swoop down or smash out of rubble in order to attack unwary foes. There's also a hidden cache of gold. The right side has a secret path which itself hides an even more secret path (neither paths are actually very secret). I'm debating with myself about the under the spawn path as this map is already getting pretty gimmicky without that. Still haven't fixed the camping issues, especially on the right. I'm also not entirely sure about what to do with what Fellere said above. The signs are because I was testing it in swordfight. Criticism?

  6. Make a little window in the secret tunnel to make it possible to spot for newbies.

    And I would place a ladder left to the tree which stands next to the red tent. Red archers still have fast way to the camping spot (thanks to the tree) but red knights don't. I don't know if you wanted to slow down archers' shielders but this way red knights cannot bombjump to the blue too quickly and kill the enemy archers which is pretty common tactic nowadays.

    Actually you can get up there if you go between the little tower and the main house thingy and jump up to the right. Remember rubble explodes on touch. You'll notice that the left side has rubble in the way too- the idea was to make it possible to get up there but to discourage it so people actually fight in the center and you get the opportunity to knock people into the abyss. But you're right having bomb jumpers leap over is critical for keeping archers in check, and even with the way I said it takes a lot longer for red to go over. I think I will change it back.

    The idea was to makie the secret tunnel not spottable for noobies at all, and have it just sit on a server all day until someone stumbles upon it and everyone's mind is blown "woah wtf where did he come from oh shit since when is there a path there" and all the noobies will learn from the one smart guy/forum goer. It's not critical to the flow of the map, so not a huge crime if it never gets discovered. You can see a bit of the tunnel under you when you spawn as red, so that's a hint. I may add more hints as it's fairly well hidden even as you pass through the shaft under the house.
