    King Arthur's Builders, unite!
Fight the oppression of your iron clad, feather toting brethren.
We will show them they cannot survive in a world without builders!

So, that opening statement might be a bit misleading. I don't actually want to rebel against the knights and archers, you can't win a war without em (and I actually play both classes quite often), I just wanted to make a speech...because it's a union.

I am trying the form this group because I think builder is the most important class in the game.
If you have a few shoddy builders creating poorly designed structures for your team, you're gonna have a bad time.
So to me the purpose of this group is to improve the quality of the game we're in through well thought out builder tactics.

Being part of the Builder's Union:

This is in no way a structured militaristic clan. I am not the leader, merely the founder.
I may lead our war efforts at times, but only if I see something another doesn't.
Ideally, each member that joins the union is already a seasoned builder. Someone who doesn't need a leader, but another equal to collaborate with.

    Joining:

Unfortunately there won't be completely open recruiting at the start.
I (or another member) needs to make sure you're a quality player before you join.
You don't need 1337 skillz and to have the highest score in the game.
It's more important that you're intelligent and strategic in your building.

    In-game:

The most important part of being a builder is knowing when not to be.
Though we are the builders union, this game isn't only about construction.
I see too many builders standing on their castle as it collapses, then whining that their team didn't defend it.
We will be builders first and foremost, but need to be flexible when the time comes.

There are many types of builders out there, and I'd like to find players to fill each role.
We need offensive builders (deconstructing the enemies bases), aggressive builders to push our front line, defensive builders to fortify our flag, and miners (everyone mines at some point, but there are some that enjoy it).

Once stockpiles are added to the game, a builders role will become even more specialized.

    Benefits:

Once this group has members, we will always be running mic chat.
Whenever more than one member is in a game together they should be on mic chat working together.
    Communication is absolutely key.
I believe that 4 or 5 people on mic chat can almost always swing the tide of the game.

I run a (somewhat smaller) dedicated server at the moment. I had it maxed out at 16 players on the test version and it was running great. We will be able to practice (building only maps, scrims, etc) on this server and hopefully bring in other players for some fun.

We may have an IRC set up as well. This would be used for finding which game other players are in, or communicating with the group while not in-game.

I also plan to create a database of well thought out traps and structures (that are easily replicated). I hope that all members of the clan will be able to contribute something to this. A collection of our knowledge will help bring newer members up to speed, and give us a sort of "play book" to work with. It is difficult to communicate (even over mic chat) what you want/need someone else to build. With an in-house knowledge of structures we'll be able to communicate and build faster than anyone else.

    Applying:

I'd rather not deal with a big formal application process.
If you'd like to join, then post here and say something about the kind of builder you are.
Once I have your name I can find you in-game and we can play a bit.

Please be an active player, and please be mature.
I can't and won't require that you're on 24/7, just that we get to see you play somewhat often.
And it's mic chat, it's possible to be overwhelmingly annoying.

    That is all,

Not to sound antagonistic, but what you're proposing is essentially glorified clan stacking.
While I'm sure you will make no attempts to purposefully teamswitch in order to play together, the lack of organization is the main defining characteristic of public play.
I know for sure that I would not like to be caught in a server with Union players on the enemy team.

I'm not a fan of clans - too competitive for my tastes.
I like the idea of a group of players sharing their knowledge and experience though.
The playbook is a nice idea.

I'd quite like to build a little site for cataloging all the different constructions people have come up with.
If that's something you'd be interested in doing, let me know.

I have one request of you guys. Please, for the love of god, do not make giant walls with a ladder up one side and call it a good defense. Please make some way for people to go in and out. I guarantee you I will do a much better job defending it if I am able to go back and forth. I could run out of arrows, flounder about for 30 seconds trying to dodge shots, then die, and wait 20 seconds to respawn, or you could build a door and I could spend five seconds, going back and resupplying.

I mean, simple walls will do if its a really dire situation, but please fix it soon after.

Also, 2 tile high walls with no ladders and room to jump are the very best archer structures. None of this outdated window crap.

If you guys do these things for me I will love you forever and your buildings will be protected much better.

See, this is the sort of thing that's nice to see

You ought to post some screenies of structures you've made/recommend and then discuss them. And stuff. I know you wrote that in the big intro, but I'm reiterating my assent. More or less.

Also, if you don't mind, I'd like to build with you guys. I don't know how big you guys are, but I'd like to derp around a little, if I might.

Sorry guys I've been out of town for a while. Let's see here...

That's great to hear. I was planning to use screenshots and create small charts for each structure.
I'm more about the collective knowledge than anything. If we define a standard for other builders I would be incredibly happy.
Some of the things people build are so poorly planned.

I absolutely hate this too. I have no idea what these people are thinking when they create something like this.
Nothing is more important than a secure way back into your base.
You'll never see a structure like that made by one of us.
