The Raid (Serbuan Maut)

Alright, before watching the trailer, a fair warning. It does contain violence and some gore. Just putting it out there.​

The Raid, or Serbuan Maut which is its original title, is a Indonesian made action movie. This is rather obvious from watching the trailer. The movie have already aired at certain film festivals but is supposed to reach the cinemas in the states the 23rd of march, this year.​

It is about a swat team that raids a druglord's safehouse in order to take him down. Unfortunately they are spotted and becomes trapped in the building complex they are in, fighting for their very survival in order to get out.​

It have seen a great deal of praise amongst people that have seen, the overall score on imdb is currently at 8.3. Imdb link.​

I have very high hopes for this movie. I am a big action fan. Hard boiled by John Woo is a favourite, and this movie seems to capture some of the same feeling I got from example the hospital scene (warning, spoilers!) of this movie. That hospital scene is several minutes long, one take. Now that is impressive. Judging from the trailer this movie does not have any jerky camera movments or quick cuts a lot of movies have today.​

This is something I love, they don't need to hide any bad choreography with these flat out, lame techniques. They have the main actor from the movie Merantau, Iko Uwais. Even though that movie itself wasn't anyhting spectacular on its own, you can safely say that this guy knows his shit. A good action movie, nothing special.​

I haven't been this excited for a new movie in ages! In order to calm myself down I just had to give this one a shoutout.​
