[h]Tips & Tricks For New Players[/h]

I believe King's Arthur Gold is heavily tweaked for collective minds teamwork gameplay.

What I meant by this is that, in the effort of winning, you will need really HUGE teamwork from each and everyone in your team. It is almost like you have to work with other people in your team to successfully complete certain mission without speaking a word! hence the "collective minds". If everyone solo combat, solo building, Im pretty certain the game will last for a very long period of time and eventually people just drop out of the game, got bored, and bulldozed the whole map to bottom most of nothingness pit lol.

However without major guidelines rules and so forth its hard to determine what's right and what's wrong and what's bad. Some people only enjoys building, some only PVP, while some other enjoys people crying over their successful trolls.

So without further due, I present you the collective of Tips & Tricks for new players if they're interested more into this game and visiting this forum to adjust or improve their skills & knowledge; also if you have decent tips & tricks, feel free to contribute and every tips will be credited in this 1st post :)

    [h]Tips for Builders;[/h]

If you're playing as a builder, you will need to be prepared to zerg rush to frontline and setting up Outpost + Small Defensive Perimeter as far as you can. This is usually at the beginning of the game on both Stealing Gold / Stealing Flag mission. So make sure you have enough resources for it. 60 gold + 120 wood. Having more woods recommended.

Choosing a good location of outpost is also smart strategy to begin with, find a good chunk of bedstone for a good foothold, find some higher place, or find some trees and make defensive line right behind the trees. Why behind the trees? its because trees prevent the other team from placing ladder block and force them to chop the tree first, hence why the reason.

Building Schematic, varies from players to players, but basicly an outpost need doors, walls, roof. That's a legit outpost. But usually smart schematic are pretty commonly used by good players, for example, 1 door block in between stone wall allows our team to climb back up to OP while preventing other team, etc .

Never leave behind ladder blocks for enemy to use. This is most basic common sense but most players dont really get this.

When building fortress & defenses, its always best to build alot of layers. The more the better.

When you're trying to fix and repair walls, and you have to remove certain block to get to it, its always best to place walls for every blocks that you've removed. This is because structures need support. And in common sense, if you're not placing walls, others will see you trying to grief the structures. Expect being accused.

And please please please for god sake, stop making catapult at base.. its useless if you're not zerg rushing to frontline those catapult wont hit anyone. I've seen so many catapult firing at own team structures and just plain eyesores to watch... I dont know if I should feel sad or angry. I feel like laughing more lol.

DO NOT CARRY GOLDS if you're not making any outpost, or have any intention of making one, store them somewhere, so other people can easily finds golds to use in frontline.

Always put a "teamwork" at mind, when you see there is huge hole and that will reduce your team mobilities, make them a bridge / ladder to cross over! its not hard at all but most people dont have these common sense really...

And for god sake, stop making HUGE spike traps and such... its almost like you think everybody is a fools but you... I've seen alot spike traps eat their own team mates because how poorly the design was. And most part of the game, those traps work less than 30% because dude.. are you serious we gonna fall for that? Just need 1 look and you know its a trap jeez... So in short if you're making a trap.. make a really small un-noticeable but real smart trap. I've yet to seen a good one or maybe I did but I have really hard time to remembers for all these past games lol.

-that is all from me today, will be updated with pictures and more tips & tricks for builders/knight/archer later-

Also feel free to contribute your tips :)

Catapults are so friggin useless! However, the only people I see making them at base though are peasants.

    Early Game:
My advice is that at the beginning you'll need one or two guys not building a giant castle at base but solely mining gold. Also in the beginning you'll need an archer or two mining the shit out of trees for arrows so they can be a good sniper team in the middle choke-point.

    Traps:
The best traps are the ones that are just two blocks wide, really deep, and the bottom is lined with stone and filled with spikes(preferably two on bottom and two on sides); it is then topped off with a ton of trapdoors and it is shadowed off so the enemy cant see unless they are right on top.

All good tips, aside from the traps one, because quite frankly at the moment there aren't any traps that can't easily be countered, due to the fact traps can be so easily detected and that they can be destroyed by hitting the drawbridge that no doubt precludes the trap. Traps will get improved though if FOW is included so that is when people need to start thinking about the way they design traps. For now, i'd suggest placing several layers of drawbridge, all with spikes on top, and spikes at the bottom. Also make the trap at least 8 blocks wide so that the enemy cannot jump over the whole trap.

Neat the problem with all traps is the ability to deactivate the trapdoors with one hit. In combat this is a chore however it is still a problem for traps. For me I find the best trap is the one you cant see, not the giant pits with many layers.

There aren't any traps you can't see, drawbridges stand out too much because of the fact they have red or blue colour. Though what you can do to disguise a trap a bit more is put background blocks in the actual pit so that the spikes are hard to see. Some people might think the spikes aren't there and drop to their death. Because its usually better to actually fall in the pit and dig under someone's castle.

Well its not really hidden but here is a visual guide to make it:
Step 1. dig down deep and line the bottom with stone and spikes

Step 2. start to fill with trap doors

    Step 3. finished product

It's not perfectly hidden but its pretty well hidden and during combat it will kill a few more guys then an open pit.

    That's not bad, actually.

Not perfectly hidden, but a lot less obvious for sure.

If they survive you're pretty much screwed though lol they'll just tunnel through. But you can always just fix that by just making it thicker.

It seems that nobody knows that as a knight, you can shield even from falling on spikes! It's really useful!

Another tip... Whenever you see a guy named SEDGEWICKBEAVERS or something like that... automatically kick him. Do not hesitate that guy is a super griefer and terrorist and he will blow up your castles and your towers like there is no tomorrow. Any idiot who would just use that name for laughs should be kicked too.

For builders, don't build a fucking catapult at the tent base. Just don't fucking do it or I will attempt to vote kick you.

Personally i like catapults at the tent base, But it should only be used when the enemy is at the walls.

Yeah thats sort of what I meant, but most of the people that do it it's like their first game or something and they just fire it off without thinking.

If you are a new player, you have to HOLD E to fire the catapult. I've lost many a fortification to a new player who spam taps E and destroys our base.

Also - personal pet peeve - don't spend a whole lot of time building spike traps. In this build, they are mostly useless due to how fast they can be destroyed. (If you just wanna make it for looks, whatever).

Tip: You can actually pick up and throw enemy/friendly bombs by pressing E then E again to throw.
