This problem is likely Linux only considering nobody else has brought it up. But I couldn't really say.

When attempting to connect to a server by typing it's ip address, it fails and the terminal displays:
    Code:
    [313] Connecting to 95:171
Error sending outgoing packets: Invalid argument
Error sending outgoing packets: Invalid argument
Error sending outgoing packets: Invalid argument
    [473] Connection to server failed.

95 are the first two digits of the ip I was connecting to. 171 are the first three digits of the port I specified.
Using the server browser works just fine.

Is the port different for Linux? In windows it is 50301. Or 50328.

Oh, damnit, I remembered incorrectly. 171 where the second set of numbers in the ip address. The reason I thought it was the port was the colon. I meant to say that it looks like it's interpreting the second set of numbers as the port and ignoring everything that comes after.
