Well, maybe, but that would make them far too easy to tear apart.

The only way to break one right now is a catapult, well timed bomb, or to CAREFULLY approach and hit them as a builder from as far away as possible to keep them from retracting.

True, but usually unless its a tall map with lots of underground (which I hate), The team bridges tend to be above all the stone.

When i first saw the changes in the new version i was more interested in the changes made to the drawbridges (rather than the swappable hats/heads and whatnot). Now after reading all this im not so sure anymore. I guess we will see when i get back from after a game or two.

Still think that regular ladders would be worth more than drawbridges due to them being so much cheaper.

I love the possibilites in the 2- way teambridge- platforms, but they could cost more, like 20 wood, and could be placed only on stone background / solid wall.
That would reduce the spam, which is the only thing we dislike in them.

Maybe damaging them while in retracted position would make them stuck uncollidable? So yourself you cant go trought but you can screw the enemy team passage...

I just purchased KAG today because it's awesome, but the way these trap bridges work is my one complaint against the game. They're far too useful, ubiquitous, and difficult to destroy. Right now the trap bridges function as entire wooden buildings (not simply bridges) that the enemy cannot stand on. I think that's a broken or at least dissatisfying design decision. They are probably the biggest contributor to stalemating in the game in my limited experience with it.

I just found this game only yesterday, so I don't know what it was like before, but I like the idea that trap bridges function as completely solid blocks. I think that would fix everything wrong with them simply by forcing the use of more ladders usable by both teams. If they are replaced by ladder Swiss cheese, that's quite alright because ladders can be used by both teams and are much easier to break.

Another possibility is to make the trap bridges trigger only after a short delay, which would allow an enemy to climb "ladder" made out of trap bridges. That prevents enemy knights from ***standing*** in front of your doors and hacking them to bits, but it means that ladders are almost always a better option for making... well... ladders, because the enemy will still be able to climb your trap bridge ladder things.

The solution to getting over drawbridges is..... To build your drwbridges over theirs! :p (seriously though, it can work if you have enough knights to defend and a builder)

My thought has always been to make vertical movement thru bridges VERY slow... slower than a ladder. It seems unintuitive that a person can climb bridges faster than a ladder.

The fact that ladders have seemingly been rendered obsolete makes me sad. :(

Alternatively they could cost 40 wood like doors, and there could be a standard wood building block for 10 wood instead. (I realize wooden structures are planned.)

They may be changed again soon. Dont forget you bought the game to fund its development and it is still in Alpha. Things change all the time in alpha (for better and for worse). Dont worry until it gets to Beta :D

I don't like the new drawbridges so much either, mostly because of the perfect overhead archer spam nests they enable, as well as skybridges. I think the 5 wide building without support limit should definitely be reintroduced, seeing as the only constructions that require to be built further than that are skybridges. Skybridges are extremely difficult to destroy, because you cannot walk on them, and with the new additions of flatter catapult trajectories and bombs phasing through bridges, they are almost impossible to destroy.

I never understood why the building limit was removed. Also, that weird anti-griefing measure is relevant to my point, and that needs to go too :P .

At least increase the cost to 15 or 20 blocks and/or make bombs land on them and/or make them able to be hit while retracted as a builder.

Actually, I think the best solution is to just reintroduce the 5 wide building without support limit, and making using drawbridges as ladders slower than ladders themselves.
