It's too bad that some of these tips should be changed, now with so many frequent updates...

People should post what build # they are talking about when posting these tips.

Yeah I wanted to compile all these into one big list, but its pretty hard to see which tips still apply... I gonna get around to it... Also the Overview in the general Class Discussion is partly made up of things from this thread (and the other respective ones), having a big collection of tricks, rather than simple overviews about what the basic capabilities are would be nice.

I 1000% agree with the first few tips. Builders dont move to the front and help enough. I die so many times when I see my team is having trouble with a wall or something and go builder to help.

If you are going to move/remodel something, then you better tell your team first.
Otherwise somebody will think you are a griefer. D:

You could also remodel a little and rebuild at the same time without telling someone. Even tile by tile works. Example. If I have a 2 x 10 wall (maybe someone built it without considering the time it takes to get over), you could mine one block, place door, mine another block, place door, etc. just so people see that you are completely sabotaging the wall.

Yeah, actions speak louder and faster.
However, explaining beforehand can save some grief.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I thought you could kill a knight as a builder, I mean damage is damage right? If you get a knight in a position where it can't attack you but you can it, then although you only deliver half a heart damage, it adds up.

Yes but this thread is outdated on many places. Prior to one of the more recent builds you were unable to damage knights except with stomps. I really need to compile this stuff into a comprehensive list.

The spaces between ladders can now be double spaced instead of single spaced.

A lot more of those need to be updated even more, for example ladders should not be encouraged on your side at all besides a few good positions, drawbridges are much better.

Ladders would only serve as a cheap way up if you are pressed for resources.

This should be a sticky but we got so many stickies allready, I am thinking about fusing dwatrings and cryptlies guide to a general "builder guide" thread. What do you guys think about that?

It'd be a good idea... if they wouldn't change so often. As long as someone regularly changes them and fixes them it will be a very good idea.

Yeah proof reading everything everytime a new build hits is a pain, but the alternative is not to write anything down. Hence the "current build" number I was talking about in the Guidelines... To identify things that need proof reading and bring it up to date.

Thanks dwatring for compiling the list, I moved it together with the builder guide into a new thread "Big Builder Guide"
And stickied it. Check it out. I will leave this thread open. If you have something to contribute to the list just keep on posting in here or the builder discussion.

It has it's own thread I believe.

Many of us have known since they were out, I for one use it often. Jackard made a thread about it and mentioned it a bit already I believe.

I actually saw that for the first time recently. I assumed someone was incompetent until I realized that the buildings worked. The devs didn't do that on purpose did they?
