The combination of life orb and sheer force gives Nidoking some serious special power that lets it stay alive in the current metagame, especially in the underused. Works best with team support.
aha you do play pokemon online. i play uu exclusively and nidoking is one of my favourites too. I prefer a scarf set with earth power, sludge bomb, shadow ball and ice beam. sludge bomb is a nice dependable stab and shadow ball since there's so many psychics and ghosts.
no one expects the scarf set and you can easily revenge a pokemon bluffing the lo set and then kill the incoming revenge killer. thats not to say the life orb set isnt great though. scarf is only good because of the surprise factor really.
