Funny, I just read The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, and I think it deals with that strip pretty well.

"It’s this: that at a certain point in our lives we lose control of what’s happening to us, and our lives become controlled by fate."

It is described in the book as the world's greatest lie. I highly recommend it. It is about following your dreams.

It depends what you believe in respects to how our lives work, I guess, Calvin. Some would say that we never have control of our own lives, whilst others would say that we only need to think we have control over our own lives, whilst others murmur through the hubub with their hopeful whispers that we have the ability to have non-determined lives...

I am just so happy that I've found the love of reading again.

Been reading a couple of books that have truthfully changed my perspective on life and how to live it. Again, it makes me feel snotty and maybe a bit silly saying that...

But these books really do remind me to follow my dreams, what's the most important for me...

There is an example of a salesman in The Alchemist. In his youth he wanted to become a shepherd and wander the world, discover new impressions...

But the way society is formed he settled with something considered more honorable...

The book carries on discussing the idea of a destiny and what it is.

The premise basically revolves about this kid, Santiago, going on a journey to find the greatest treasures in the world, whatever that might turn out to be.

Great read, highly enjoyable even if you are not into these sorts of things...
