First of all, I need to get my life together. I have a skills evaluation that I NEED to pass so I can finally become licensed, and it's on March 5th. I don't have a lot of time. I also need to become licensed because frankly, it's the only way I'm getting a job. Shit is scarce where I live, and right now I've been unemployed for like 4 months. It's a bad time in my life and I need to get some shit settled.
Any free time will be dedicated to a game I've really been wanting to make for the last 10 years. It's just a simple minimalist dungeon crawler/RPG set in a futuristic setting, but really expansive and varied, much like La Mulana. I'm pretty much just making it for fun and I'm using RPG Maker 2003. I won't be using stock elements OR ripped elements; I'll be using a limited color palette so it'll have a retro feel.
I'll still pop onto the forums from time to time to see how everyone is and keep up with MOLE and stuff, I just can't play KAG right now. Actually, I really don't want to, which is a shame. I love the game to death and hopefully a nice break will respark the love again.
PS: In the meantime, this is the type of graphical style I'm going for. Yes, it's very minimal, but I'm hoping that the game itself and it's exploration aspects (along with tons and tons of enemies/items/skills/etc) will make up for it.
If they weren't lost to time I'd show you some of the minimalist stuff I've made, I pretty much spent half my time on the computer drawing tiny pixel art when I was a kid, the other half playing Space-Invader-esque games or tank games.
