Yeah, I think things aren't going to go great for you from here on out. Tbh I think things started to get a little wonky with 2...c6 (I'd have prolly gone Bb7 to get that B into play, which is what I'd originally assumed was the reason for 1...b6).

That said, the two things that made life difficult for you were 4...e5 and 6...f6 (particularly after my 6.c3, which was rather passive in hindsight).

As to xg6 Qxg6#, I'd been focusing on Rg8 Nh8+ Rxg6 Nxg6 xg6 Qxg6#, saw something different and then somehow failed to notices that the endings matched.
