I'm also pretty good, although I've resigned from the uni thing to focus more closely on the other two activities. Still feels pretty surreal tbh, I used to think academia would be my long term home, but pretty sure it's the right choice so just gunna have to embrace the feeling of being in freefall, haha. :p

can you go back to the uni when you feel like it? also is welding as viable a career option in australia as it is in the US

Yup and kinda. I've left things with uni such that, should I want back in, I can come back with only a spot of mucking about with paperwork.

Welding *can* be viable, but I'd probably have to move elsewhere. What I'm aiming for instead is some kind of artisan existence--utilising blacksmithing etc. as a basis for other endeavours. Exactly what that looks like I dunno atm (am still in the idea generating phase) but I hope to have a more concrete plan for next year come this Christmas. In the meantime I'll keep tutoring my students. :^)
