    It's slang, the word bog in reference to 'boggy ground' comes from the Scottish Gaelic 'bog' meaning 'soft'. I guess it's somewhere where you make soft ground.

    We call it a bog/dunny/lavoratory (jks, that last one is just me).
    Most people think it's derived from the word "dunnigin." That being a prehistoric term for "privy."

    Nah, dunny is an Aus/NZ term. It comes from dunnekin, a combination of 'dung' and 'ken', literally meaning dung-house.
