About
Will you be remembered when you die? With that generic Wilhelm scream, your death will elicit nary a tear from your comrades, and at best an absent chuckle from your enemies. With Deepthroatâ„¢, you can change all that. The name says it all, really: you can submit your choice of sound to this resource, and on all servers using this mod, it will replace the default death scream when you die.
As a player, your task is simple: find or create a .ogg file which you feel captures the essence of existential fear, pain, and/or primal rage, then submit it.
Server owners may add and remove .ogg files from the Deepthroat folder for custom, server-specific screams. These are located in /Mods/Deepthroat/Aaaaa/.
If you want to disable taunts on your server, simply delete the folder Aaaaa/taunts/.
Installation
Put it in your mods folder. Add a line to your KAG/mods.cfg file with the word "Deepthroat."
Creation
There are plenty of sound editors out there. A popular free one is Audacity.Submission
There's also plenty of source material on freesound.org to get started with, or you could muck around with the existing sounds in KAG. Just make sure you save in the .ogg format with mono audio (dual audio is a waste of space, since sounds are emitted from a source in the KAG engine).
In addition, make sure you give it your name (<your name>.ogg).
If you want to submit a taunt (to be played when you press v), save it as (<your name>_taunt.ogg).
Guidelines:
Submitting your file:
- Max size: 20 KB. If a file is too large, decrease the bitrate when saving.
- Length: aim for about 1-2 seconds. The "fade out" effect (available in any sound editor) should help if your sound needs to be trimmed down.
Simply include your .ogg as an attachment and post it in the discussion thread.
