A very generic structure, came out of experiments with vertical structures instead of horizontal. There are some subtleties that deserve mention though:

The enemy would be comming from the left. The teamdoor on your side is below and lets you walk in and out comfortably. Especially useful for a quick retreat. The left one is placed 8 blocks above ground, simply walking out of that will not even stun you. You will hit the ground and be immediately ready for battle/not being slowed down.
The teambridges allow for quick passage in and out and the spikes on the bottom will hurt charging enemies or jumping ones. Inside the tower the line of ladders with a space will catch you from any distance, so even jumping down from the top of the tower (inside) will be completely caught by the 3 ladders.
Futher the structure is easily maintainable by a single builder who replaces broken castle walls as he can easily acess every part of it except the trap bridges outside.

On the right one I placed the "growth" which also demonstrates how to use it properly. Obviously this tower is to be build upon (cata platforms, archer nests on top, growths on the side depending on height). Its a very generic tower without any big perks. The reason why its 5 blocks wide is so you can easily "fast-drop" downwards if you are passing through. Additional castle walls inside the ground makes the structure safer aswell (and under the spikes so that they cant be dug out).

Reminder: If this structure is being placed during buildup time, for the love of god take out the lower two castle walls to allow easy passage. A structure such as this slows down your teammates too much. When danger draws near close it off. If you are scared of bomb jumpers/cata flung knights put a single piece of team door in the passage to stop entry (obviously on the above one since then the spikes can trap enemies aswell).

    Specs:
    Stone: 340 (walls) + 102 (back walls) + 20 (spikes) = 462
    Wood: 200 (bridges/doors) + 22 (ladders) = 222
