    I still use forms of the OP's linepiece whenever I go builder. I feel that it is an essential in the repertoire of a spikeatect. However, some variations require that you maintain them just to keep allies safe or to surprise enemies.

    This is an example of something I have used as a base. It is very vulnerable to bombs, but it's also very good for killing unexpecting knights.
    Also, you better hope your teammates aren't ignorant enough to try and squeeze back in. Because of this, I will normally leave out the spike until enemies come.
