The most useful thing i find to do as an archer is what i call "Tree Baiting"
Basically what you do is make a enemy knight notice you then climb a tree but dont go into the top bushes so the enemy knight can still see you. when the enemy knight is almost near your tree start charging up your arrow. when he hits the tree and you fall down try to land on him causing his shield to break then stick an arrow into his face and jump away.

 

Such a great tactic, i use it all the time \:)

That is still my favorite comic. Vidar is probably THE most satisfying to shoot down.
