    why doesnt this game support 64 players after so long, this game is nowhere near as fun with 20 players compared to 64 and people wont stick around as long cause of this

    it was decided that performance with many players would be dropped for mod support (which required moving a lot of stuff to the script side of KAG). i'd love to see massive 64 player battles again, but we'd need a lot of performance fixes before that happens

    Essentially, what @bunnie is saying is that it won't happen. Good performance for that size of server (or even >40 slots) won't ever be possible with the current software --- not even with expensive hardware. Some progress on performance has been done over the years, however, it doesn't amount to much. There are obstacles that can't be overcome without serious modifications to KAG --- which we all know won't happen. With the community leading the development it's even more unlikely to happen, since the community is naturally more focused on new content (like quarries), rather than fixing issues it's become accustomed to. It's no easy task. There's no money to do it and of course no skilled developer will do much for a few pesos from bounties.
