But honestly I think that the buildings we have so far are pretty darn good, and there's all these other factors which contribute much more to weaknesses in the field of architecture.

Another is builder efficiency. Have you noticed that gangs of common builders build really slowly. They spend like 20 minutes and have tiny huts of a total of like 300 stone.

Protips: If you don't need the wall up right now, mine yourself full before going back to base, especially if it's a while's away. Travel time slows you way down.

Making mistakes costs a lot of time to fix. Know what you're going to build first.

There are fast and slow ways to build. Know how you're going to build first so that you don't have to waste time with putting up and taking down supports/ladders.

But really I guess it's kind of pointless to tell you guys this.

Normally to defend the main base you just need to dig/bomb (If bedrock) the underneath and then add a bridge underneath it all (Many bridges are usually good too.)

In general yeah, but I've seen a few games where gangs of up to six archers have dominated the game. Hell, even three moderately skilled archers can totally slow down a surface advance, if not stop it outright. So yeah, I agree, but there's always room for extra in other classes, so long as it ain't 80% builders :P

Well balanced classes though, especially with the new knight jumping charge coming up.

I regard this as an exploit.

Most of the time when I want to play to help my team, I'll play as a builder as it's the only class in which latency is an issue. When you have a ping that normally sits between 400 and 500, you basically have no choice but to be a builder. I'm trusting latency issues are the fault of the game itself (because my ping is fine on other games), and are understandable seeing as the game is still under development, and afaik, not well optimised.

Did you mean as a builder latency is NOT an issue? o_O
As for ping, where do you live? If you're in NA and playing in those Euro servers, yeah you tend to lag quite a bit more. The US-based servers are okay though, the highest I usually get is around 100ms.

Yeah, I meant that the builder class is the easiest to play when you have lag.

I'm situated in Australia. I would play on some Aussie servers, but no-one else ever is, and I know they never want to either ._.

I would play Australian servers, I live there too :D
I'm a battle builder, I don't really build forts, but tunnel, break through and take down enemy forts, so when I go builder, I always get bad scores, even when I cap the flag :)

I always build tall and 1 block thin walls on the front line. Why? If you as a builder stay next you can easily repair them (getting the last hit on a block to get the stone back and then repairing the wall). Instead if you make your wall 2 or more blocks wide it will be easier for the enemy to get past it, and you can't to anything if someone tries to carve a ladder in the wall...

Sounds like we need Australian servers. If you mean other games like TF2 etc you're likely playing on Australian servers Eggnogg -> no distance-based ping.
I'm in Melbourne fwiw. 300+ base ping on top of my crappy internet makes fighting basically impossible.

You can turn the network graphs on and see that the in and outgoing data is pretty light :)

Unless you die. Archers can make arrow ladders, knights can shield+jump to bunny hop his partner over. Then that wall is going down in half a heartbeat because there is no one there to fix it.

As for not being able to defend a 2+ block wall: Drop stones on their heads. e.e

Terry that's not an exploit, it's a strategy...

Problem is it's a surefire recipe for stalemate, endless baserape by the opposing team.

Yeah, main tent stalemates just suck, and almost always end with a vote for next map instead of a flag capture. I would suggest making the ground below tents indestructible, but the new gamemode will rule out its necessity.

It is pretty much an exploit. Once you're on the ropes like that you have no chance of winning, all you're doing is buying a disproportionate amount of time.
