Bringing up the subject on Mangas that should get a Anime adaptation.....

Red Eyes, one of the most badass futuristic/militatry/mecha/action mangas Ive read for ages.... the one thing i would be worried if this got an anime would be it getting censored all to heck much like the Blade of the Immortal Anime.

Also Vinland Saga, because its the best Viking manga there is... end of story....

And thats not even the end of it! I should try find episodes and continue watching it, only seen three episodes so far. Thought it was enough for a while after I saw the ep with the dildo mines.... its funny, stuff like that would NEVER fly if it was made in the west. (unless its Animaniacs, they were good at hiding things like that.) :D

Man, Vinland Saga is just porn for historians. Love it to bits. All dat detail.

Not read Red Eyes, but gave it a look over and bookmarked it for future reading. Looks sweet.

Most animes based off mangas are comparatively shit though. See; Berserk, Nausicaa and the Valley of the Wind and there is no need for a third. An anime just doesn't have the same potential for depth as a manga. Apart from the relative price increase in production (even considering the slave artists Japan has), the idea is usually diluted with the various overseers and larger group (somewhat justifiably, with the larger investment)

Ditto with Western comics. There is always going to be more experimental, new, weird little things in comics than on tv or movies.

Also, god damn, this thread. Why just list your favourite shows? Give a name and no more? Boring. No one is going to watch a new show if you don't write even a few lines about it (unless it has a really cool name.
Apocalypse Meow. You want to watch it now, right?
) Almost every thread like this on the forums just ends up as poorly spelt lists.

Edit; Just realized I've liked every one of Zegovias posts in this thread. Nice taste.

Ive also realised that there is no (Or very few that i dont know of.) anime that takes the western comic superhero concept to heart, hideout, secret identities, bad guy of the week, evil nemesies, superhero teams and the whole chebang. What if there suddenly was a Japan equivalent of Marvel or DC universe out there.

(the mangaverse does not count! and neither do the Super Sentai series, unless they make an animated version of them.)

Not really, not on my post about "Guardian of the Sacred Spirit" and "Spice and wolf II", but I digress.... Thanks anyway! :B):

To further elaborate, Main reason i like guardian of the sacred spirit is because they mainly use spears as weapons, SPEARS! always in anime its katanas or other type of sword (Im looking at you bleach, except for Ikkaku). And i already said i liked the fight choeography....

Oh and spice and wolf because of the awesome scenery and the funny banter between the main characters. Nice breath of fresh air with a merchant as a main character also....

Japan loves Marvel though, don't they? Can't get enough of it. The Power Rangers source material or Kamen Rider comes closest though as you said.

I think their equivalent is Shonen. The why is interesting there. Something to with a more buttoned down culture, where if you're going to dream you're going to dream well outside of the norm, rather than the slightly altered norm that's usually popular over here. Not a very satisfying answer I'm afraid.

Why we prefer tales of people with incredible power acting out power/revenge fantasies is pretty obvious in comparison.

Makes sense. Japan is also diffrent in the way they handle continuity... I cant think of any anime/manga that are connected to each other or that even takes place in the same world..... We (and Marvel) however somehow NEED to have every goddam comic they make to take place in the same world, a world now so filled to the brim with capes and crooks that you need a PHD just to understand a small parts of it.

    Fair enough Beef.

I just re-list the ones I have stated that other people have not listed and give a description.
Clannad/Clannad After Story: Clannad might seem to start off as a rather generic harem show but it's different. The main character is awesome, delinquent yet compassionate character. It's an emotional anime it's one of the few animes I've seen actually tugged at my heartstrings. If you don't feel bad/sad in After Story (second season), you completely lack a soul. Seriously.
As the above clip shows, it can be funny, but don't let that fool you however, the show is also serious.

Hayate No Gotoku!: This anime is about a butler who has terrible terrible luck. His job to work as a butler for a girl and basically focuses on standard harem/romantic comedy hi-jinks. However it does a lot of parodies. It kind of becomes of how many can you find? sort of thing.
It's mainly focuses on comedy and very little focus on romance.

Gosick: Not sure how to describe this one, but I guess the best way to describe would be say that it's comparable to mystery/detective show with romance. It's very well drawn and takes place in Victorian England (if you really happen to like that sort of thing). It kept me rather interested while I watched.
There's a little comedy, but it's mainly focuses on the plot.

Otome Youkai Zakuro: A comedy romance that takes place in Japan during the time of Westernization. In this time period, Youkai (I guess demons/spirits) cohabitate with humans. There's a Ministry of Spirit Affairs that deals with Spirits who act out and basically hurt humans. It's the job of the Ministry to deal with them. The story focuses on the addition of humans to help out with the Ministry. Also rather well drawn. At first I thought it wasn't my thing, but I liked it after I finished watching it.
Couldn't really find a good video clip, but here's a song from the show playing random little tidbits of the show.

Black Cat: I liked this one as much as Rurouni Kenshin. It could be compared as having the same basic plot as Kenshin all the way up until they fight Shishio. The biggest difference is that the main character uses guns. Anyways it has very great character devlopment and it was enjoyable to watch.
Also, my favorite character is Sven.

As you can see my taste for anime is mostly Romantic Comedy/Harem. Not a huge fan of action, although there are some exceptions. Additionally I tend to just prefer reading manga.

Also Beef: Just so you know, in Japan, the entire "Power Rangers" like anime have their own category called Sentai.

I like Clannad also, though its ages since I saw it so I dont remember much... Another one you might like. (unless youve seen it already.) Its called "Ef: A tale of memories.", Its about a boy who meets a girl who suffers from a mental disease that causes her to lose her memory at the end of every day, so she keeps everything written down into a book so she could remember her day to day life. What follows must be one of the most heartwarming stories ive seen in ages, the conclusion left me in manly tears!

Hayate No Gotoku is the prime example of the unwritten law that every butler that stars in an anime must be the epitomy of awesome.
