Anyways, if you liked those 2, I'd recommend watching Sakurasou No Pet Na Kanojo and Okami-san to Shichinin no Nakama-tachi if you haven't.

The anime is great, beautiful art and awesome deep story. Would rewatch it but watching another anime atm. Recommend it to anyone who loves any type of anime.

I've heard good things about Log Horizon, and a lot about how it's supposed to be somewhat similar to Sword Art Online.

Maaan, SAO made me sad. The first half had some filler, I admit, but it was still pretty enjoyable, and they managed to keep it pretty serious up to the end of the first arc....
Then they hit ALO, and everything went to hell. Without the punishment for failure being immediate death, I think it just kind of lost its punch, and everything felt a little forced.

If I do watch Log Horizon, I hope it manages to have more meaningful conflict.

Reminds me of SAO, but with more actual MMO references. The first episode literally has them in the middle of a fight saying how shitty the controls are for fighting.

    That's pretty funny.

I might watch it once I finish Attack on Titan... which is good, except for the excess of soldier angst.
    "I'M SUCH A COWARD"
    "EVERYONE'S DYING"
    "POOR ME"

(Note: These are not actual quotes)

Maybe I'm just too used to characters being completely unafraid of death, but I'm about halfway through, and really feeling like it's becoming excessive.

Saw the first episode of Log Horizon. Has promise so long as it focuses on adventure/narrative and not too much on this uguu kawaii and omg perv shit we see happening already.

I also saw the first episode of Yu Yu Hakusho. So 90s but it touches my heart. Also Jasoooooon.

AoT is way overhyped. Yeah, it's gritty. It's dark. It's "cool". But the characters are all rather boring (With a few notable exceptions, and Aren is not one of them), the show is confounded with astounding amounts of filler suddenly shoehorned in, and by god the flashbacks are all boring as fuck, aside from Misaka's life flashback. That was at least a 6/10 IMO.

I think most of my friends who recommended it are all just americanized animu lovers. They all flock together like birds of a feather.

Wow, don't even type the MCs name right, jeez.

Also yes, Eren is boring, potato girl is where it's at if you want something interesting.

I'll just post some of my more hipster anime here (some I may have mentioned before, but I'm guessing most of you don't know them. If you like the genere though, I recommend giving it a try):

Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei (Season 1 + OP), Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei Zoku (Season 2 + OP), Zan Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei (Season 3 + OP)| Genre: Comedy, Parody | About the Show: Basically show is about a pessimistic teacher and his students with one overly optimistic girl talking about common everyday issues. Talking is interrupted by random "fanservice", intermixed with parody and "romance" between student and teacher. Kind of hard to really explain I guess, but easy enough to show:

It's pretty ridiculous. Strength is the dialogue between the characters. Characters are fairly standard, but the show knows it and pokes fun at it constantly. Some episodes/scenes are much greater than others, so at times you'll be laughing pretty hard (if you enjoy that type of humor) but at otheres it may feel bland. I'd consider the lack of consistancency a minus. If you want a mind fuck,, read the manga up til the end. Holy Shit

Humanity Has Declined (alternatively the Japanese Name: Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita) + OP | Genre: Comedy | About the Show: Basically most of humanity died out for some reason and "Fairies" have become the most common "Superior" life form. The story takes place from the point of view of a girl who is in charge of dealing with the fairies and their interactions with people. There are various miscellaneous adventures including: time travel, nation building, taking down a corrupt chicken organization, making manga and more. Characters are fairly pessimistic in this show or sadistic and interactions are enjoyable. It's not entirely as cutesy as it seems based on the OP. I do recommend giving it a look regardless of your tastes unless you really hate comedy.

Gosick + OP | Genre: Drama, Mystery, Romance | About the show: Basically if I had to describe it, it'd be like some sort of Japanese adaption of Sherlock Holmes with more drama towards the end, except Sherlock Holmes is a short gothic lolita girl and Watson is a Japanese man. Generally, it's a fairly serious show, with slight humor mixed in here and there and character development. Basically what you'd expect from a Drama/Mystery show. The art is fairly great (as it is with most shows that have a Victorian England feel). If you are in the mood for something serious, I can easily recommend this show.

Watched Gosick this weekend. Pretty okay, sweet little love story mixed in with a detective mystery(ies), catchy OP and EP, and good main plot progression. The show was still lacking something, like maybe humor? It wasn't funny, and while it tried to be mysterious, most of the mysteries were impossible to deduce from the viewers standpoint and ended up being solved by Victorica in the most absurd ways possible.

    I'd rate it a 6 or 7/10.

Gosick was pretty enjoyable for me, though you're right... it was definitely lacking something.

Main reason I liked it was Victorique - as I've said before, I'm a huge sucker for cute female leads.

It seemed like it was trying to be scary or creepy or something, but it was riddled with tons of annoying anime tropes that really sucked the life out of it. For example, that annoying "HAAAAAh??" + dramatic panning upwards into the sky. I hate that shit, and the main guy does it constantly.

Just saw this. On my sub it was spelled Aren. Maybe I just watched a shitty fansubber, but that's how it was spelled for sure.
