Change Platform Physics

    please keep platforms as they are, because I like how archers will never ever realize that I can slash through them.

    Removal of slashing through platforms was not one of the suggestions in the OP. Please read before you post instead of immediately trying to say something funny.

    Now - how many of you would actually be opposed to changing the grappling hook physics of platforms? Should I set up a poll?

    Platforms should stay the way they are with regards to grappling hook physics. Being difficult to get past is WHY I use platforms at the top of bases. They're the only thing that can slow a speeding archer down to a decent speed.

    I use platforms at the top of my towers because they're cost effective, not because they hold off archers. As I've said before I don't build with archers in mind, that goes for defense as well as offense. If I spot an archer trying to climb one of my towers my natural builder instinct is either to drop a spike on them or let a knight take care of it while I go off to gather stone. Because I work extensively in platforms ally knights have a fairly easy time hitting archers while they climb, but like every property of platforms (except their durability and cost) this is just icing on the cake.

    In case the fact that I hadn't even noticed didn't tip you off I don't care about (or for) a platform's impact on archer speed. I'll still have plenty of time to do what ever it is I'm going to, and if I'm having trouble with archers I'll add a four or five block overhang and that will definitely buy me enough time. I don't know about you, but I don't even notice when I spend 100 wood. It's just not significant.

    And a heads up: I've said just about all I have to say on this matter. If some one posts a tempting arguement with a unique answer I might respond to it, but otherwise (to avoid repeating myself) I'm probably done here.

    so, i quickly skimmed the posts and saw nothing about 2 easy ways to counter these platform towers, for ground towers knights or builders can just demolish them. for hight up towers or elimination of towers at range you can just shoot a fire arrow at them and the will not only become useless they will become a hazard for the other team till they burn down so i see no point in removing them as a semi-skilled player can very easily dispatch the tower. and even for those less skilled players a builder can just run up to it and put a ladder in front of it instantly solving the problem till a enemy player can come remove the ladder (trapping them on the other side of the wall if the tower is not built very well) so removing the platforms in their current state would be making the game more casual friendly and honestly i like games having a bit of a challenge rather then just being able to charge right in guns a' blazing and win with little to no skill or thinking needed.
     
  6. Platforms are mostly used as the art of "Cancer" a small platform tower with a door at the bottom, can be easily spread
    Players like @rymcd helped contribute to the strategy of this
    And frankly I think they are perfectly fine the builders just need to catch on to a compromise which I will post later

    But I don't think their is a point in having platforms if they don't do what they do

    The thing is, platforms are far too easy to set up compared to how they can be destroyed. With some stone back-walling fire arrows soon become ineffective and knights cannot slash backwall. Keeping a builder at the front is also problematic.

    Defense and offense should have different counters than allow for varied gameplay. Here all one team has to do is spam platforms and stone back-wall. With a wood farm plats are ridiculously cheap and stone back-wall cost next to nothing. It is ironic that you wish for "challenge" as you promote a cheap and, often, stalemate inducing tactic.

    Even if I'm against the tide, I agree with the OP. Fix the annoying grappling effect and wall climbing issue with platform >:(
