    Daskew's Effective Tree Trap

    Contraption.gif

This is one of those rare traps that actually works well in competitive play. It has been tweaked and tweaked for maximum efficacy.

    Archer getting caught

:smug: A look inside at caught archer

    :flex: How long to build?

    Picture of the trap

    treetrap.png

    SOME DESIGN NOTES:

    • The spot for the door is on the bottom primarily to stop archers glitching through downwards.
    • There is only one platform on the left side, as 2 platforms make this trap significantly easier to spot
    • The downward facing platform is to stop archers from throwing the grapple out through the lower left gap and glitching.

Why is this trap any good?

    Thinking.png

    1. Cheap - made from mostly wood. Highly reproduceable. Not annoying when knights bomb it down.
    2. Catches players from many angles.
    3. Very unnoticeable.

Why no spike or trap block?

Because to add a stone block would limit the the net size and also an enemy corpse inside the trap would leave a trap block activated and thus enable your own team mates to get caught. A door is a much better idea.

    Great trap, simple yet effective.
I'd be sure to try making one in pub, these poor archers won't see that coming. >:D
PS: the first video is private, we're unable to see it actually.

It catches knights just as much... weirdly lol

Halarious when one is thrashing up in tree going "wtf??!"

Could you possibly do without the piece of backwall that's not hidden behind the tree? Maybe easier to break, but definitely harder to spot...

could do with less backwall considering it adds virtually no protection - 1 bomb makes it go down either way, and an extra bit of wall for a builder to pick at takes no time
and as FBB stated above it makes it even less visible

this is the only part of the design that im not sure about.

if the bomb is to the left or right of the backwall one layer of it might survive. also people just dont notice the trap anyway.

however you might be right. if knights see a bit of backwall, knowing knights they bomb anything they see. if there's only 1 line of backwall at trunk the knights wont even see it, meaning bombs are LESS likely to be used on it, meaning it actually provides more defence. hah.

    BASICALLY WHICH IS BETTER:

Less purpose placed bombs under the tree trap.

    OR

Slightly less chance a random bomb knocks it all down.

Well the traps easy to repair, quick to build, and barely costs any resources so having it be harder to see for less armor is a good idea imo, considering it can just be brought back in a matter of moments.

nice. the reason knights get stuck in it is because if walljump. knights dont like to stay on the ground in the same walking pace too much(except for nubs) and then hit the door while walking or fighting, end up climbing it and get stuck. nice.
