Heres a nice pic for this thread from Capture the Bacon unlimited lives. That match took like 4 hours. It was EPIC.

So who won that match anyways? :D I quit after three hours. After getting autoswitched I lost my mojo and care.

On another note, something that I've heard SmokeyBacon say that I kinda dig, is the idea of not being able to stack bridges atop one another. That would stop a lot of the real monstrosities that are being built (super fast bridge ladders, rooms full of bridges which keep your team super mobile and invisible) from functioning. I think that combined with a limit on how long a bridge can be without support would be a pretty good way to keep some of the positive attributes of the new bridges(being able to shoot/maneuver through them) without them being super wonky like they are now.

We (red) ended up winning eventually.

Yeah those are good ideas as well. I think we are all at a consensus that something needs to be change. Lots of good ideas in this thread.

Seriously? Four hours is certainly the longest I've heard of on that server, but 2 - 3 hours isn't unheard of by any means. Though we recently did make it so archers start with a few arrows, knights start with a bomb, and builders start with 40 wood. This change seems to speed up gameplay quite a bit, which is kind of what we were hoping for.

I think Nix and I talked about the idea of tossing in some custom maps in to the rotation too - maps with a thick layer of base rock under all the dirt and stuff.

This does not surprise me. I've played for 5 hours straight once and the game still didn't end, back in the old days when there were no unit counts for every server.

Oh goodness yes, those CTF days when the cap limit was not just 1, but 3+ .

    Ah, they were great.
Don't think I was ever around for the end of a match, then...

So after playing several dozen matches, i think the bridges are kinda okay as they are... timing bombs to deal with skybridges are not that hard, and when fire comes around, it will probably become even easier to take bridges down.

Nope, they are still horrible, timing that kind of destruction is difficult, and bombs behave strangely and usually don't destroy skybridges anyway.

Also, now archers can't arrow ladder over traps, what is this?

A lot of people say bridges are obsolete... but people don't seem to realize that ladders can be used as cheap traps as well... they slow everyone down like crazy. By making a giant wall of ladders you have essentially created a very effective kill-zone. Knights can't move and shield at the same time on them so archers have essentially stopped knights in their tracks while they attempt to advance... bombs can't be thrown far because no momentum can be achieved... and everyone just moves extremely slow.

    lol Fellere, I remember that.

I'm not too sure on the issue. I find it largely pleasing as an archer, and I enjoy difficult obstacles set up by the team. To me, if a builder sets up a trap, only another build should be able to counter it OR another class in good circumstances. This build did a wonderful job of makes builders more competitive; only they can remove other built constructions. The draw bridges were just one of those changes IMO. If your team doesn't have a builder to counter a well made spike pit... that's your problem.

Otherwise knights and Archers make traps obsolete.

As for movement/usage, I'm fine with it personally. I wouldn't mind slower movement, if everybody else wants it.

As for skybridges, screw them. They shouldn't be in the game IMO, and hopefully we can expect some new replacement for aerial transport. That being said, I do understand how unfair they can be with new draw bridges.
