    So the idea that there is a button on buckets that uses all the water but you can cool down your drill, extremely useful for tunneling and combat-drilling, i think this isnt too crazy and has a real chance of being implemented.

    You can already do this.

    Well, not the new button part, but if you splash a bucket of water on a drill it will cool it off.
