I still haven't got editing privileges on the first post, but okay...

The first v34 hotfix has been released!
    Saves are incompatible. :QQ:

    Also update Dwarf Therapist
    http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=66525.0;topicseen

    • fixed save corruption/crashing from old forts
    • made dwarves with cancelled jobs stop walking to their destination
    • made removing designations cancel active jobs again
    • fixed a mouse problem with designations
    • stopped books from being duplicated in adv inventory
    • stopped companions from becoming hungry and thirsty during travel
    • stopped worshippers of certain beings from mentioning it
    • stopped glazed items from having cabochon shapes in the glaze
    • made arena generate some interaction effects for placement on creatures
    • fixed various grammar/raw/manual problems
    • fixed crash that happened during conversation greetings
    • fixed crash from werewolves in worlds where a world gen had been aborted
    • fixed ambush frequency in adv mode
    • fixed overabundant giant mosquitoes
    • made wagons appear again
    • sped up adv conversation greetings in larger/longer-history worlds
    • stopped weird job cancellation numbers for bars/cloth/thread
    • made magma/fire safe building materials work properly
    • doors/floodgates display properly after being placed
    • stopped lye making from using full water buckets
    • made forge jobs use bar amounts properly
    • made obsidian appear properly in the stone restriction list
    • made automated fisher/kitchen/etc. settings display properly
    Notes on bolded texts:
Trading wagons neccessitates a 3-tile wide path into your trade depot. This can present substantial defensive challenges.
The lye-bucket bug was, once upon a time, crippling to the healthcare industry.
Forge jobs for large objects (ie. furniture, breastplates...) require 3 bars instead of 1.

Traditionally, several hotfixes and worldgens have been observed before a stable release has been reached.

    Population: 131
    Children: 40
    Deaths: 9
    Created Wealth: 353882
    Imported Wealth: 142801
    Exported Wealth: 90690
The fortress is happy and well-fed on the whole.

Has anyone mentioned Boatmurdered? Or in fact, Headshoots or Syrupleaf? Great hotseat games, doomed to failure. ^_^

If they have been mentioned, disregard this post, maybe even burn it in a firey pit of fire.

The Story of Boatmurdered, in brief:
Aside from the 'regular misgivings' of fortress life, Boatmurdered, an early-version fortress, was plagued by endless waves of zombie elephants. Little could be done to halt the terrifying beasts, and once the panic set in, nothing could stop the fortress from rotting from within.

Also read the beautifully illustrated Bronzemurder.

My new fortress, Coverpage, is nearing its first trade caravan. Farmland is much more prominant, but I do not have the benefit of a volcano on this embark. It has been running VERY efficiently thus far. With only 15 active labours (most of which only having just arrived), I have dug a sewer, established and fertilized a mushroom farm, produced enough gold goblets for trade, held off 2 waves of buzzards, and constructed enough crossbows and bolts to withstand many attacks yet to come. But who is this Tholtig Momuzegul? And what does this mean?

Yeah, that's generally the real stuff...

Before i got banned on the forums and completely quit the game, i didn't know how to make alcohol.
That little stick-figure-guy is me, by the way. I was that close to actually getting to play the game normally, and i fucked it up.

Played this for 3 months. In my best fortress everything was not-so-funny until a group of alligators mutilated everyone and the few survival dwarves started to kill each other, then giant spiders appeared...

In the blur and subsequent haze that was my birthweek, I somehow missed the news:

The Lazy Newb Pack has been updated, including 34.02-compatible graphics packs, dwarftherapist, quickfort... Link!

DFHACK must be installed seperately. Dfhack will trigger warnings in your virus scanner due to its use of memory-probes to alter data within a running instance of Dwarf Fortress. It's mostly cheat-scripts, but there's a few, the tile-probe, cleanowned, workflows, and the vein-digger, have proven to be useful. Stonesense still has problems.

0.34.04 has been released, with a slew of bugfixes and heartening news: Bay12 netted in over $12000USD in February. Not bad for a mid-month release!

    thread link

Our first mass migration has arrived. 17 dwarves. Among them, 9 soldiers and a great farmer. And about time! This cursed ground has taken its toll on our livestock and on our population. 7 dead in all. 3 miners, our mechanic, our smith and some immigrant labours. We have had to improvise shelter in the sewers. Foul undeath came out from over the mountain. Yaks gored three, anyways. It was enough to keep the settlement together. We came ill-prepared, with little food and less drink. No-one starved, but the tantrum call rang out. One had fallen to melancholy - a slow, naked, thirsty death. Another, to psychosis. One dwarf was beaten to death, and the perpetrator was killed in retribution.

The crisis is over. Our stocks have been replenished, but the project has ground to a halt in the absence of skilled labour.
