Just played finished playing a game of DF, managed to survive about four years in the evil biome, the invasions just keep getting harder :(

    Invasions of what?
Btw, what did your evil biome have?
    was it terrifying?
    did it have husks?
    reanimating grass?
    deadly weather?

    DF is a harsh game.
I usually stick to a temperate/warm, calm biome that has a stream.
    brooks suck.

At first it was zombies, which were 'relatively' easy to deal with. They kept coming, but once I'd got a militia together, they fell fairly easily. What killed me in the end, after about two years of being constantly harassed by them was....undead storks. Not. Even. Kidding. I kill them, another wave shows up, most of the ones I killed get back up again :( I honestly have no idea how to defeat them :( In the end I just abandoned it, sadly, I don't think I took a screenshot, but what basically ended up happening was half my fortress filled with storks (There were dozens of them :QQ:) and dwarf corpses.

    Husks or zombies?
Small husks (cat-sized) are notoriously hard to deal with.

Just plain Ol' zombies, like I said, they didn't really give me much trouble, the storks were the ones that wiped me out :(

You have been encased in FUCK.png

Literally a minute before I had pulled out a Bronze Great Axe out of my arm after surviving a 12 strong goblin ambush. returning from the far north to kill a warlord threatening my nation.

Needless to say, I save scummed.

I'm RPing Guts from Berserk, going about killing monsters as a master swordsman with a big sword (my sword weighs three times as much as an iron war hammer!).

I simultaneously love and hate this game.

That only means that you're doing it right.
    Swords ARE badass tough.
What is your sword made off, making it so heavvy?

It's a silver two handed sword. It's great. Once my strength got maxed it was chopping limbs off like a great axe.

In hindsight, I should have modded in Zweihanders, but oh well. Next time. At the moment I'm searching for a way into the caverns to fuck some Forgotten Beasts up.

Well, adventure mode really isn't as fun as other rouge-likes (though toady is gonna make it better). It's more so you can view all your achievements in the world.

Oceans are pretty cool, if your computer can handle it. Lots of fish, near undepleteable watersource, and good military training if you can manage to lure something out. Plus most beaches I've embarked on have had relatively flat terrain.
Unfortunately, mine can't, so I've had to decrease pop cap significantly :(

And I just realized why you don't buy breeding pairs of cats at embark. Holy jesus

Hm, i prefer a iron sword, chops off limbs more easily.
Ofcourse, if you could do some modding you could add in a material that only you can make by use of knapping and then make it as heavy as silver and for the rest make it candy.(you know what candy is, right?)

Let's face it, from the way Toady's talking about minecarts, slightly more people will probably use the minecart to clobber enemies to death than to actually move stuff around.

I've been thinking about putting prisoners into a minecart, then letting them roll down a hill and then with the help of the boosters shoot them out of a cannon shaped pipe.
Then they can be used as practice targets for the crossbowmen.
