no, I meant this:
does the map I make HAVE TO BE civilisation-themed or
No i'm pretty sure it can be what ever you want!
If its not a civilization though you will not be able to win the civilization category.
Both of the maps i'm working on are civilizations.
Not cause I want Civilizations the game or whatever. I just had 2 really good ideas :)

Ahaha :) Its fine.
I can accept the gifts currently :D
tnx, that splains.
There are two categories you may enter your map into: General and Themed. The first can be whatever you want, the second needs to tie into the theme somehow. Technically either category is optional.
Correct, though of course you can't win first AND second place. ;)
I finished my themed map but I will release both together :)
I have a question: for the civilisation theme, can we make up a theme so that the war is between two civilisations, that didn't exist? For example (random example), a war between elves and dwarves. In other words, it is based on an entirely different civilisation Man went through. Can we do that? If so, would we get less chances of being taken?
@Dandy: That seems a bit more fantasy than civilization, in my opinion. I'm thinking more along the lines of monuments, cities, ruins, etc.
Okay! Must restart then! I'll do it with the Templars regaining the Holy Land (1298-1300) (source: Wikipedia)
If you want you can submit the first map to the general category! No sense letting a good map go to waste :)
This is an edited comment in it's entirety:
This is my general map. And I'm not sure what to call it. Either ''Aw yiss!'' or ''Qwack!''. It's 200x50 with wooden blocks so it can only be played in premium.
So I have a quick question.
The new map I made uses wood blocks. Which is okay right? Cause you're running a gold server if I recall correctly.
Anyways, because I used a lot of wood blocks I can't properly test my map without it glitching out.
How would I go about testing? Without having to run a server.
I also withdrew my last map. Cause my new one is a "Themed" map and so was my Mayan map.
The new one is better. By the way, the next map I post WONT be the themed one. Not yet :D

( 100x60 )[RTDM]This map takes place on..... A TABLE!Which has some flower pots, shelves, and a computer!Dirt covers the back wall on almost the ENTIRE MAPIts there to give it that... Home feel? idkNothing will fall because of the dirt back wall.Which in my opinion is good cause its meant for quick little games. My other map is complete but i'm just adding things here and there :)That ones next. [Theme]Fractured
(200x150)[CTF]This map is all the way up into the sky!Use bridges to your advantage! Using them can get you across with ease.As long as you don't destroy them >:cThats about it. I'm literally out of other words to say about this map.I am just stalling now.Seriously you can stop reading.OH YEAHI couldn't test this map cause it has wood blocks so like,I can't test it on my own.No blocks should fall but i'm not 100% on that.So if someone wants to test it then go ahead dog.Word up.
Okay, so uploading these two maps leaves me with a dilemma - enable shadowing on the server or not?
Premium servers default to shadow enabled, so that seems like the best bet, and I'd prefer it that way. Right now both PhirePuncher and dandyking's maps are essentially unplayable with shadowing enabled, though, and I suspect that may happen with others, as well.
I would suggest that all mappers take into account lighting when building things. "Windows" in your backwall when making structures, for instance.
I just got an idea for a map and...damn. It contains a bunch of tunnels. So the lightning is bad news for me.
...Actually, that might be pretty sweet with the lanterns enriching the dungeon/sewer feeling. Oops, mini-spoiler! :p
(No, it's not a sewer-themed dungeon. There's a dungeon AND a sewer. And it fits the theme, trust me.)
It might be a while before I post the map 'cause I'm lazy. (And I've got exams, but that's off lesser importance.)
EDIT: By the way, is there a size you prefer?
I made my map with shadowing not enabled :/
I think that the best choice is that in the [THEME] map, shadows are enabled because I'm guessing lots of the themed maps will have secret tunnels and all. If the [GENERAL] maps are only available in premium servers I also suggest they also have shadows: buying lanterns enables you to see. Plus, by being able to see where you are going and where the tunnels are takes the fun out of the map.
I agree with the ''making more windows thingie'', (only in [GENERAL] maps) but I suggest no windows in secret tunnels and all.
For example, in my themed map, there are lots of hidden tunnels leading to gold; so in a more general example, if we can imediately see the gold, the map would lose points if the shadowing is disabled. I'm guessing I won't be the only one in this case.
EDIT: I repeated myself a lot sorry, I'm just trying to prove a point :D
Size is totally up to you. I've decided that I intend to re-enable shadows later, either way, so plan (and update) accordingly.
Pffft what am I thinking.... Ill go and make a Giant window in there or like... Everywhere. Ill get it fixed though.
Personally I would keep shadow on. *sigh* If I could test my map id go and put some lanterns and such everywhere.

So have we decided on shadow or no shadow?
I have made a fix for the Table Fighters map if needed.
Shadows will be enabled on the server as of next update.
Ill post my map tomorrow cause i'm just way too tired to do anything else today.
