    Sure, Skype is way more demanding as being compared to webchat or even any IRC client.

    Fwiw, if you're going to be running a webchat IRC in the background, don't use Firefox because it has a bad habit of leaking loads of memory (which can, over time, lead to you not having enough RAM to run your games smoothly).

    Just use http://www.adiirc.com/ if you are on Windows. It has an extremely small footprint and is constantly updated (once a week or so) if you opt into Beta in the options. Hell it even supports mIRC themes and scripting now.

    Safe, yes. Or we wouldn't be recommending it on these forums.

    Easy-to-use? Well, I figured out what needed doing with only a little fiddling around, so I guess? It's not an exact one-to-one translation between adi & xchat, but they have the same basic function so it's not that hard to work out what's what. If you decide to use it and run into serious trouble feel free to ping me.

    Yeah i have my slightly tweaked theme. I dont IRC as much as I used to though and it could probably be made a lot better.
